This is how it arrived from the USA the Chrome isn't that bad at all but under the black paint the Chrome is all gone so the frame was delivered to SBD to work his magic on it. I have sent the frame and forks, Bars, Stem and Dia Compe seat clamp all to be powdered. I have decided not to go for the standard Haro Green as I always thought it was a bit dull compared to a DP back in the day so I am going for a much more lairy green as seen on Steven Costas and Firebird Steves DP's in the museum

I've found the Chrome on these part painted ones is not normally very good around the headtube & BB so I would paint it :daumenhoch:
You could go for Green but I know it is quite hard to match, or have you seen the blue 86 Master on page 14
Here........

That RADbandit has, I think that looks sweet :)
The good thing about these 80s Haro's is so many colours go with them :coolsmiley:
-
Yeah I think a repaint might well be in order as I don't like the black. I was always a fan of green aswell. I will get some pics up when it arrives :daumenhoch:

Yeah the green is sweet, give SBD a PM & see if he has sorted out the green yet :daumenhoch:
-
They're not cheap nowadays are they. I remember when Skatepool used to put NOS Master and Sport framesets on eBay for £150. They had loads as well, frames from '85 to '89 and maybe beyond. That was about five years ago, though.
I remember building bikes was a lot easier (and cheaper) then as Vert-Ego, Alans, Skatepool and Rudewheels ::) had loads of NOS gear for sale. Those were the days. :'(
Looks like a nice little project you have there. :daumenhoch:

Been speaking with SBD already it is now decision time Two Pack Haro Green or Powdered DP Firebird Green???
What would you guys do... Powder or Two Pack :idiot2:

The Two Pack as it's closer to the original finish (85 Haro's were not powder coated) and will give you a closer colour match :daumenhoch:
PLUS, Dan does a fantastic job with a spray gun regardless of what base metrials he's using :4_17_5:.

More parts been purchased... Frame Into Foreign Customs, May 07, 2010, 8:30 am, GREAT BRITAIN. :daumenhoch:
Hope they don't sting me to much for a 25 year old Frame :police:

At the time it all still seemed a little expensive. On reflection....no :( , £5 for blue Tech 3's, £6 for blue mx seatclamps. I could go on...Kashi's £20.
-
:knuppel2: :knuppel2: Well my frame has just cleared :yahoo_silent: customs :Aresehole: with a charge of £100 for a kids frame and forks :tickedoff: :'( :'( :'( :knuppel2: :knuppel2:
-
FOOKIN HELL BRETT.
-
i thought the charges were a % of the price? ??? how does it work?
-
It's about 12% duty on bikes plus VAT, then parcelforce wanting £8 - £14 for paying it for you. The knobs take your property and hold it ransom until you pay them. Scandalous bastards.
-
Probably got a storage / handling fee built into that as well ....
cnuts. :2gunsfiring_v1:
-
They also add the cost of the postage into the value. So 12% plus 17.5% plus ransom money for your bits plus uk delivery costs 99 pounds and some change to get a £240 frame and £80 postage. I was not a happy bunny this morning. Rip off Britain :Great_Britain:
-
fook me mate by the time you got it painted etc well over 500 notes :-[
-

Then all the bits on top it is well over a grand to build it. :idiot2:
I am just Hoping there is good chrome under the black paint now. If not this is going be a really expensive build. I hope I sell my Reflex Quickly. :daumenhoch:
-

The customs fees breakdown:
Import Duty: £13.74
VAT: 67.39
Parcel force delivery and other fees: £18
Total: £99.13

I feel your pain man.
I had an XL24 shipped back, and the douchebag put down the full value, so I paid 125 quid all in for a 25 year old bike frame that was 700 bucks.
At least Dick Turpin used to wear a mask..

Thanks Weeksy... so true about Dick Turpin. The Twonk I purchased it from put a higher value on it so I had to pay extra.
I Will have to wait to send it to SBD for the paint to be done :daumenhoch:
-
What the fu(k?!
Why would he do that?
twonk is polite...I was pissed the bloke I bought mine from put full value, let alone an inflated one!
It's all about revenue this conutry...Truckers
-
I think he was trying to be smart covering hi *rse for insurance... Who knows lesson learned. if it says kids toy it would have been free apparently. I will stick to the UK for bits from now on.
-
What a berk.
Easier said than done... Very easy to get carried away when you see the bits you've longed for at an ok price!!
We have all been there!
-
You are right I have spent ages trying to get an 86 master. And probably have to get some more bits from the US :daumenhoch:
-
it is expensive but you do have to look at it from the sellers point of view i guess?? if it did get lost and he had to pay you back, he wouldn't get anything back from his side if he only put a small value to it. it's just a painful thing you have to take buying big bits from the states.
drop em and take it like a man :'(
-
Right I have just about got all the bits for this Beauty now :daumenhoch:
SBD is going to do the Powder for me so it will be posted in the next day or two. :smiley6600: :smitten:
I have asked Del to do the Decals so it should all start going together in the next few weeks.
JT Smooth has built the Araya Super 7x's with Suzue Sealed Peregrine Hubs MMM 48 Spokes. :smitten: :smitten: These have cost a small fortune but they look super Sweet. I have fitted a Shimano freewheel to these and wrapped them up on NOS Green Haro Tyres.
I will try and get some pictures on in the next few days. :uglystupid2:
