any ideas?
after checking the sbc thread i am unsure if it is a legnthy or a sta500 as it has no gusset plates but has block gusset between the tt/dt

if it's a lengthy the dropouts will be two stages of thickness, an sta will be 6mm all over. And the revamped lengthy didn't come out till later
-
pics now up in first post.
-
Looks like an STA to me.
They are going for around £50 now :( which is mad when you think how much they were new - around £390ish I think.
I think Harris will be your man to date it.

i did think this at first but it has no plate gusets on the front end and its not a ox version whitch from what i am aware is the only sta they did without the gusset plates.
-
the first sta's (1in headset) had no gusset plates, just the box section between the top and downtube, looks exactly like my old mk1
sta
iirc i paid £550 for mine including standard forks with peg bosses when the sta was released
harris will be able to confirm this

i think they only did a couple of years WITH the plates.. i got a 1 1/8 without in 95, then one with plates in 96 (I used to sell them a year later at about the price I got them for from Standard.......)
£50 is about right. which is criminal if you think how much some of the OS shite sells for!
-
yep thats an STA still strong as a bugger, with modern light parts can be ridden to death...£50 for the frame is what they sell for
which is mad for something that will last your riding life.
-
Don't despair brothers.
I think we can all remember when OS stuff was worth fck all. 5-10 years later prices 'ave rocketed.
The same thing will happen to mid school stuff, it's a great time to buy right now.
Quality mid school stuff can only go up in value. I'm not partin' with my Survivor Holmes '96 oversize for anything. 5 years time it'll be worth a mint.
-
thanks for the info and updates guys i would love to build it up and ride to death but i actualy have no time to ride bmx anymore due to xc commitments and need the space so if someone is willing to part with 50 queens plus postage (or collected from bristol) for it then let me no lol
-
don't want to tread on harris's toes as he is like mr standard uk apparently so slap me if i'm talking out of line dan ;)
i believe it to be mid 98 up to about 03 on shape! the ox platinum frames came in mid 2000 and for a while they were available to buy in both 4130, and ox platinum, the shape stayed the same. i think the 4130 were fazed out late 01ish
-
i just like sbc phil,,nothing else comes close that frame can fit into a few years so serial number under bb should nail it down.
-
did anyone see the unused STA (frame only)on ebay that sold yesterday in Surrey? £36. jesus, i might start buying them up!
-
i was tempeted ,get buying sir chris...
-
