ok this is annoying - I've been applying decals to my fresh SBD powdered Kuwahara frames and the decals will not stay stuck down - the edges are lifting.
I've read the posts on here and used paint prep wipes to clean the frame in the area where the decals would be placed - but the decals are still lifting!
any ideas?
-
once the frame is clean, how are you fitting the decals?
-
just applying them directly - positioning isn't a problem with the Kuwahara decals as they're all quite small or narrow.
-
ok, so no water or anything like that?
-
are they those thick glossy ones?
-
nope no soapy water Firebird
and yeah they're quite thick & glossy Del

Ive got the same problem with my kuw decals, they went on fine but after a couple of days started lifting at the edges :(
-
I had some original one's that did the same thing. The problem with them was age, the stickie had gone funny in the sunlight over the years. Sometimes it's nice to have original but only if they actually stick on the f/f ::)

Try a hair dryer to warm them up and failing that try some instant contact adhesive :-\.
-
funnily the one on that I know for sure is 80's has stuck without any problems on the headtube - the others are not sticking. I've stuck the edges down now with masking tape.
I'm going to try the hairdryer Marty cheers mate!
Perhaps the combination of warming them up and holding the edges down with masking tape might form them to the tubing.

had a similar issue with foil backed Torker fork decals, in the end i put a dab of Pritt Stick on em, and it has sorted the problem... :)

I'm sure you can get an adhesive spray. 3M or scotchguard do something like it.
We used to use it for vinyl's at work when they weren't very sticky.
Maybe one of these may work, just spray the back of the sticker and fit too frame.
