Ok guys and gals, a month or so ago I put up this Motobecane MX400 frame and forks asking if anyone knows much about them and whether to restore or leave survivor state...well survivor was most popular so I duly obliged and have left it as it was and have tried to use parts that are used too...im pretty happy with it too...maybe change a few things as time goes by or they come up for sale...usually when you see one of these they are using blue parts all over (as it came from the factory) but I thought I would be different and pick up on the red on the decals rather than the blue :)...let me know what you think...be brutal if you feel the need,im sure its not to everyones tastes ???.

Im sure a few of you will tell me to lose the front brake but seeing as the french national champ ran one on his MX400 when he raced it I reckon its good enough for me to leave it on ;D

Nice bike Ron :)
Were these the French Scooter /motorbike company ???
not the American MTB company ::)
-
I missed your earlier thread on this, I'll have to go and have a read.
Don't know anything about them but it's a good looking frame 8)
What's the welding like?
-
Likin that Ron with the mix of parts, like some-one said, like how we'd put a bike together bitd, looks a nice rider too. Don't dis it Ron, it's cool :daumenhoch:

Yes matey it is the very same french scooter co...later on became MBK branded instead of Motobecane :)

What's the welding like?
the welding is not bad in places matey...in some places like the gusset etc and brace on rear it almost looks like it is brazed as it is nearly impossible to see the joins :)
-
Yep like it , good to see something a little different :daumenhoch:
-
very nice Ronnie, i reckon front brakes on race bikes look the dogs :daumenhoch: it is good to see a change within the forums of RAD :daumenhoch: :smitten:

It's got some quality there then 8)
Well worth looking after. Looks like maybe a few of their earlier models came with DX cranks.
The more I look at it the more I like it :daumenhoch:

They had this supposedly unique welding process called "inexternal" and adapted from their road bikes

Smooth and clean look for sure !
The Motobecane/ now MBK brand distributed in Europe has nothing to see with the US Motobecane , they just bought the name but that's not the same kind of cheese :D

Is it me or does that stem look MASSIVE in the Promo advert pic
-
I think it might be some kind of cover. There's a better look at it on this:
Other shots of it here (without the cover?): http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/motobecane/28016
