Got a build sat in the house waiting on one part ( bars ) to come back from the chromers, been waiting on the bars for ages and they won't be done till september, its all built apart from those, just so frustrating i can't ride it or show it off yet, feels like this build has taken ages to get to and all resting on one part.
Whats the most frustrating build you have had or have going on?
-
Go on then, tell us what it is.....
-
I go through patches of frustration then euphoria....all at the same time :LolLolLolLol:
-
Any that has a 3 piece crank.
-
I find building personal replicas quite challenging because it involves finding parts that need to match pics or memories - some of those are faded and I can't recall or see clearly what parts were built onto the bikes. Only my first Kuwahara was an off the shelf bike bitd - all the others were custom built - that makes for the challenge.
The biggest frustration is the lack of Elina Turbo saddles for reasonable money!
-
the problems with my t.a were well documented, starting with the fook up with the chrome then installing the headset and bb cups,i could have chucked it all in :crazy2:

Since getting back into this i've realised that finding a quality chromer who has a fast turnaround is almost turning into the holy grail of bmx restoration.

marty i ws thinking the same.i got my mrd forks back form the chromers today,i tried a differant one to usual but also in poole, this company are metal finishers and chromers so i explained that i didnt mind paying for a professional polish prior to chroming instead of the usual quick tickle, well needless to say the chrome is far from flawless ,lots of speckles and pitting, basically the usual and now familiar story.to be fair the forks were originally white so the metal was as ruff as a badgers arse so they havent done too bad, they look spot on from a foot away but they still arent what i call mint.youre right finding a chromer whos actaully bothered or listens is turning into the holy grail :'(

i always used buttsbikeshop on burnerworld, amazing chrome work, good prices and decent turnarounds, however he's out of action on the chroming front till further notice, another one i used pocklington chrome very good work however they now have a 1 year waiting list :wtf:
very hard to find a good one with decent turnaround timescale
shame about that

If "frustrating" means taking a long time, I'd say all of them :LolLolLolLol: Some are even very very very "frustrating"
but the fun is in the process as they say 8)

this had to be my most difficult build as i tried to use as many british parts as possible
thats why it took over 2 years to source all the bits
