Me on the ramp me and some mates built, 83 or 84. Proper 80's ramp, no plans or anything poofy and timber courtesy of the local building site. :daumenhoch:
The second ramp was moved there by a kid we knew who lived in Ongar, can't remember his name, but he was pretty useful on a bike. I think he lived in the grounds on a school - anyone know his name? Think it may have been Graham.
Check the brake cables in the first pic - a local fad around my way BITD - towelling tennis grip around the cable! ;D

Posting these pictures certainly jogs some memories from the ol grey matter.
I remember building the ramp in the pic with some mates over at our local football pitches. Like I said, no plans, it was all done by eye and guesswork. I remember the night time raids and balancing sheets of 6 x 4 ply on the top tubes of our bikes (now that's why my Torker is so scratched >:()
We had the ramp at the fields for a couple of months until we got fed up of the local scallies trying to wreck it and the village busy bodies complaining it was an eyesore. We then moved it to the end of a local bridle path, way out of the way. Still people moaned (mainly snooty horse riders - no offence horse riders) so we decided to lobby the local Village Society meeting. With about 5 kids and their parents in tow we pretty much outnumbered the farty old gits on the society, explained our ramp and a bit about BMX, promised not to cause a nuicane and they let us keep the ramp :daumenhoch:
Happy memories indeed :)
