Title: When did cassette bubs first come out?

I've been told '85 but that seems very early to me? anyone know for sure?

I'll up that to the 70's, Shimano and Suntour were doing cassette hubs way, way back.  Tuff 1's shipped with cassette hubs as early as 78  :daumenhoch:

Good call Marty  ;) i have some Suntour cassette hubs too  ;)
I knew for sure they where out in 1980 mas they are in the Shimano Catalogue  ;)

most japanese hubs have a date code stamped on them :daumenhoch:
its usually 2 small letters or numbers

obviously you need to have the components to date them :)
