Title: skyway alloy hub pushed - rejig it in any way ???
Post by: BENDYCAT ELEVENTEEN on September 21, 2010, 08:39 PM
I have a rear red skyway alloy hub - trouble is it has the dreaded pulled too tight shite

I have looked at it and it doesn't seem that bad - the rear freewheel came of sweet - now my question is, has any one tried to knock or pull it straight ? the rivets look ok and it seems that it they could be pushed or pulled back into shape, then it could be lined up straight into shape ? rejigged sort of

will get a pic up - but in the mean time if any one has any info that would help !

cheers B

can't you tap it gently back from the inside with a long punch or a cut down broom handle as not to mark the inside off the hub, make sure you tap it at different positions so you knock it out evenly. not done one as yet but got one to do and read something awhile ago that this was the way to go ;)

Yep, haven't been to see Mark for ages but he has indeed got a tool for this. Was based on a fly-wheel puller I think.
