I put some new red tyres on it to ride it around for a couple weeks just to check it rode ok, when i was satisfied it rode nice i stripped it to begin the resto
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs340.ash2/62030_471738691941_668306941_6496240_1372639_n.jpg)

Looking through the bits, it was apparent that no amount of autosol was going save the brake calipers, the pics make them look good but i cant save them, so a shiny new set of MX copies with levers have been ordered, obviously proper DC brakes would look out of place on this woolies special
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs610.snc4/59065_471738901941_668306941_6496244_6611189_n.jpg)
the previous owner had very kindly 'touched up' the bike all over in a nice magnolia colour, taking great care not to paint under the pads etc!!
Hair dryer and patience to remove the graphics to be scanned and redrawn
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs333.ash2/61298_471738956941_668306941_6496246_2010629_n.jpg)
even the graphics got abrushed touch up
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs325.ash2/60558_471739036941_668306941_6496248_1600002_n.jpg)
Onto the crank, this had also been treated to some love and careful restoration with black paint so thick it was like wax
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs325.ash2/60558_471739041941_668306941_6496249_6656937_n.jpg)
under the paint more horrors
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs325.ash2/60558_471739051941_668306941_6496251_1920089_n.jpg)
even after some hardcore polishing, still poop
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs665.snc4/60558_471739056941_668306941_6496252_5036351_n.jpg)
so if anyone has a cheap as chips crank with this branded on one side and TAIWAN on the other, drop me a pm
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs630.snc4/59056_471739046941_668306941_6496250_3166385_n.jpg)
Then onto the shiny bits
before
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs314.ash2/59394_471739136941_668306941_6496253_4799060_n.jpg)
after
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs634.snc4/59394_471739141941_668306941_6496254_1441993_n.jpg)
Polished stem, BB and seatclamp
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs614.snc4/59394_471739146941_668306941_6496255_5080605_n.jpg)
few more bits got the autosol treatment
(http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs614.snc4/59394_471739151941_668306941_6496256_4451038_n.jpg)

Just got finished out side with the frame just as the heavens opened
under the magnolia paint and powder, the welds are a beautiful sight of smoothness and the drop outs are unmarked :)

i even managed to resist the urge to move the A of aero as if you look it really is that far away from the E
-
seat post decal with added bits!!

Postmans just been, wooo parcels
some wicked MX copy brakes, just perfect for this build, i love these sooo much!!!!!
red cables
red waffle style grips, not really accurate, but at the right price
and a huge seatpost, had to buy an mtb one as its 28mm and i like my saddle up and this 400mm bad boy with micro adjust is just the ticket, and also i like the way a micro adjust seatpost looks, you'll notice i have one on the wildcat styler too

had a quick finger tight build up when i got home, the cables are a 'touch' long, and now the mags look so yellow :( going to have to take the plunge and bleach them, also the saddle look so orange :( not happy about this at all

wow, thats alot of work on a woolys bike, shame it aint a jmc or something like that ,that way you'd see a hefty return on your resto, all good tho all the same :daumenhoch:
-
to be honest i'd sooner see this being restored than a jmc as it was something most of us would have had or see about.i never knew anybody with a jmc back in them days unless it was at a big meet.
mean nowt to me unlike the ole cheapy bikes we had to make do with ;D

very nice indeed, Jayymzz :daumenhoch:
i'd keep the old decals anyway--for reference. Future generations might want to know about the granular way of filling the letters etc ::)
-
oh i will, bit anal like that!! Im hassling my printer to get the decals done as it looks so naked without them, and once they are done i can put an end to the build
-
The end of the road has come, job done, just the decals left, which i know i'm in for a hefty wait as my mate has just landed a huge contract and thats his life gone till xmas!!
and finally with red chain
enjoy
