I've heard, that like just about every chrome rim nowadays they start to flake pretty quickly.

I've got a chrome 7 series rim Glen, bout 2 year old, the chromes still mint

Bikes used at indoor parks mostly, outdoor parks occasionally weather permitting and my bikes are kept in the house

ive had chrome 7005 series rims for a couple of years and they did bubble up slightly but didnt flake

currently running the new style 7 series rims in black

as for strength mine have taken quite a bit of abuse and are still quite straight, just gotta keep tensioning/truing them up now and again
