was just curious to see how many 'old-schoolers' still ride, esp as my wife thinks i've got a screw loose for even thinking about getting back on a BMX at my age
-
Yep - I ride mine down the allotment :daumenhoch:
-
I only ride two of them. My white one and my blue one, the others are in the loft.
I do get paranoid when i ride them though, especially when i'm on my own. Not once have i had anyone come up to me and start talking old school BMX.
-
Just started riding again at 43.... and dig it :daumenhoch:
-
Yep i ride em... :daumenhoch:
Skatepark and track, have a new school bike for park use and a mid school bike for track use
Cant build em up just to look at, use em.... its what they were made for in the first place... :4_17_5:
-
I ride all three of my os bikes, and my daughter rides her mini all the time, family jaunts means they all get go out to play, four old school, one mid school, and one new school, I have four kids by the way!!!
Why build show ponies, bikes were made for riding
-
i ride most of mine but have got a few that i dont ( because of the nos 80's tyres etc )
love bmx me like :smitten:
-
when i finally got myself a rider i went for a spin along the local cycle trail by my house.i felt 10 ft tall like charlie big potatoes until some little kid said to his mum 'that mans bike is very little!'. i felt smurf like after that!! :buck2:
-
Yes I ride but I mainly ride my Haro Retro sport because it is cheaper if you break it :daumenhoch:

-
Ride all 3 of mine, Redline cruiser racing, Colony custom for parks and to the shops, And FBM custom for centreparcs and the trails place in Chelsmford and to the shops aswell :daumenhoch:
-
Ride mine ( only got 1 but 2nd coming soon ) when the kids go out on theirs, get a few looks.
Dunno if it's cos it's White,Pink & Blue or it looks like im riding a kids bike
My daughters friends ask why im riding her bike ;D :2gunsfiring_v1: :2gunsfiring_v1:
Took it onto camp ( RAF ) during summer to ride if i needed to go anywhere.. got afew looks especially off the chicks
Think they loved it tbh, i know the lads who i work with do, though they'll never understand old skool really :smitten:
-
im 38 a mixture of grey and bald so theres no chance of me looking a bald tit on mine
-
Yep, 3 of mine get ridden regularly.i visit outdoor parks, 2 good tracks within 20 mins drive and a bit of street a couple of times a year, plus commuting on sunny days. like betty sez, they are for riding... No matter who you are with or where you are, I return to the state of a gormless child when i'm riding. great. :D
-
Ride all of mine cant see the point in building and not enjoying them! that why all mine are riders :)
-
i do ride all my bikes but allwys looking for the ultimate bmx freestyler
-
i ride all of mine also,on a side note, the amount of decent people ive met through bmx, albeit through a forum, which to the outsider may seem odd(internet nerds)
you all know what i mean,if you know what i mean :daumenhoch:

i've been riding 28 years and never quit, it'll be 29 years this xmas. the longest i haven't rode for was about 6 weeks with a broken leg, i've broken my bones 5 times while riding my bike and it wont stop me. i always try out my builds at the skatepark at least once and get some pics then it's back to a new school bike.

40, Still ride, still build trails, still build wooden ramps(to be riden at your own risk :P),,,,,,still trying to pull a GDF turn down, haha. Don't care what the general public think about BMX, having too much fun + keeps me fit and in the outdoors- i've stoped on loads of other stuff I used to be into, but for now gonna keep riding.

Take mine 2 - 3 times a week to the local drinking establishment, manged to remodel myself and her the other day whilst attempting to bunnyhop a two foot wall after a daft amount of lager,
o/s bikes are built for enjoyment, some peeps enjoy building and staring at there creations, others enjoy the occasional roll around with friends, then there are the few who use as a daily rider and batter the sh1t out of em.....its all good, its all bmx & i like it :daumenhoch:
-
replied on the first, but didnt realise we were getting pics out!!

yeah I ride, not as much as I should though.
Yes I often suffer from don't wanna ride cos there's loads of ace riders there, but I usually have a go. and yes I'm pretty sh1t but i enjoy it.
as for the whole being a bit old for it, someone my wife used to work with asked her if i was having a midlife crisis, Snowboarding, Bmxing & four aside football at my age, my wifes answer? "better than being downt he pub every night like your husband" lol..
oh, my doctor has on more than one occassion told me to lose weight or i'll die, and also told me in the same breathe that my choice of sports aren't suitable for a man of my age. lol. can't win.
-

Amen to that ;D
-
think maybe I should have called this post "how many of you have had kids so you can 'blend in' when riding?"
joking aside great to see families enjoying this hobby together, got more chance of seeing the queen's tits than getting my mrs on a bmx
-
Ride all mine-only here once and I love burning in NOS Tyres especially GT and Black Panaracers :daumenhoch:
-
I ride lots, I cant dance so I ride.
I rode a sweetbeet once ;D
-
ride me falcon cruiser every weekend down to tescos and to the pub :smitten:
-
I ride, my dad rides (looking to make his comeback in OS next year), my 7yo son rides, my wife rides one of my cruisers occasionally, and my 3yo rides his 12" bike with stabilisers.
I'm picking up a cheap 18" park-type bike for my 7yo tomorrow so he's got a daily rider as well as his racebike :daumenhoch:
-
i ride my 2009 dirtbike at southsea skatepark 2-3 times a week
all my 90's bikes get used for cruising around on the seafront & into town etc...
dont think i could ever own a bike and not ride it, thats what there made for :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:
-
Every time I build a rider it ends up being too NOS and I end up going round it circles so this time I'm building a NOS bike to ride. :daumenhoch:
-
I ride lots, I cant dance so I ride.
I rode a sweetbeet once ;D
Dirty Ol' B45tard
-
I ride most of mine ,but mainly its just for a bit exercise a couple of times a week
The kids however have full use of any bikes they want to ride :daumenhoch:
-
I ride new school a couple of times a month, not as much as I would like but hoping to be able to ride a lot more over the next few months. :daumenhoch:

Riding my new school Huffy at Andover, 10 mins later and disaster happened. Haven't been there since. :'( :'(
What happened??
Anyway, I ride my 2006 PK Ripper every saturday at the track. I dont really ride the 2009 Quad loop I bought as it is too shiney and pretty and in hindsight I shouldnt have bought it as I should have bought a cruiser that I could ride around the streets on. I think a 20" bike is too small for me to ride around the streets but thats just me. It still bugs me when 'A' holes call them kids bikes and my recent favourite is the :Aresehole: who told his son (who wanted to leave the BMX track) to wait a minute as he wanted to see Evel Kenevel here (referring to me) have a go. TWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Sorry.
Ride em if you got em :LolLolLolLol:
-
I stopped growing at 5' 8" so I reckon I might just get away with riding on 20" wheels once my bike's built
So finally I found a benefit of being a bit taller than Spen ;D
I bet the kids in the park will still point and shout abuse as i go past on my plastic-wheeled bike
-
Riding my new school Huffy at Andover, 10 mins later and disaster happened. Haven't been there since. :'( :'(
What happened??
Crashed bad in the triples behind me. I dislocated my collar bone aswell as broke it and i also did 3 ribs. Add that to the whiplash and rotator cuff in my right shoulder being shot and you'll understand why i've never been back. :LolLolLolLol:
I have the dislocation for life now, the rest is fixed. We don't bounce well any more. :'(

No :LolLolLolLol: Just build as a hobby now. :smitten:
-
Not any more, raced in Stafford as a kid over 25 years ago on a track made in Highfields by us local kids..just before the mountain bike age...
Massive gap until 3 years when I started on the Raleigh Burner restoration streak then 2 years ago bought a few new school biles, Federal Corey Martinez custom which I smashed about for 12 months getting braver and braver and which is the only NS bmx i have left, I treated myself to a New WTP Envy 2012 and a New Stereo Flash 2012 to ride around on, anyway had the Flash delivered to work I built it and went riding around my Town, after barely 90 minutes fell during a wall jump and and smashed my left hand breaking the bone here which in turn knackered my knuckle as the bone twisted and turned .. it took 16 weeks to heal and still isnt right now , turning a tap on strangely gives me grief, since then have jammed on loadsa weight as a HGV driver so can safely say No more Gusto rides for me...
Sunner Summer cruises with a bag of beer tho, now yr talking...

3 of mine have the nuts on tight for riding, one for me, my wife and son - the rest would probably fall to bits if I took them out :LolLolLolLol:
-
yes drive it very oft... unless it wont rain..
here a picture of me and Senzo on a track before winter :coolsmiley:

I only ride 1 of my bikes. Why ride only one? Because it rides 10x better then any of the others. :LolLolLolLol:
And I also hate the feeling of swapping bikes to ride different things. It always feels like you on a borrowed bike and does my head in. One bike that Im comfortable on makes riding everything a lot more fun for me. :daumenhoch:
-
What were the results then Griff? :LolLolLolLol:
-
Ride the floval nearly everyday..and kappa when I can.. Just moved house and built a 12x8 man shed,Easier to get to the rest of them. :daumenhoch:
-
Same answer as first time round.... yes :daumenhoch:
Only have 2 bikes and both are used.... occasionally :(
No plastic washered finger tight nonsense for me :D
-
I have ride most the ones I have built up til now :wtf: I have a gt performer as my radchester ride I have. New school for the ramp nights the rest are show pony :-[
In 2000 I got a nos boxed unbuilt haro group 1 race bike built it used it to race :LolLolLolLol so much for nos back then 10 a Penny :LolLolLolLol:
-
I ride all my 20" os bikes (albeit only on the London rides or a light seafront cruise) apart from my two Trickstars as I don't want to ruin the NOS white tyres or break the OG Aerospeeds and I also ride my Cruiser. I obviously don't ride any of m minis though.
Adam
-
Go to the local track with my lad when the weather's half decent. Mind you it's only 2 mins down the road.
Built 4 bikes upto now, two for my lad (ones not fit to ride yet), one for the mrs (she's not bothered anyway) and one for me (nearly finished my second).
So nearly 5 bikes which will all be seeing their fair share of track and tarmac. :daumenhoch:
-
I ride my TRM in the park early on a sunday .....which is why the bikes always dirty when you see it
( but drag my kids along to protect me from the bullies they're 7&13)
I had someone in a VW bus matching my speed and obviously looking at my bike once, I refused to turn my head to acknowledge them, they eventually speeded up and drove off ...phew
Am fully aware that just because my bike maybe cool...It doesn't make me cool whilst riding it.
-
Used to ride loads until quite recently,my Free Agent and n/s S&m 38,fooked shoulders put paid to that :(
Don't ride any of my others.
-
I commute to and from work and all my bikes except the Direct Links. The next one will be the Exhibitionist. I give myself an hour to get to work on sunny warm days even though, at speed, I can do it average 24 minutes :LolLolLolLol: Sometimes I pop into the bowls in Bushey Park on my way ::)
I'm trying to get my 3 year old on a bike but she doesn't seem interested at all and my 2 year old does but she can't find the strength to push the pedals yet, bless her so, riding with them at the moment is out of the question.
I pop down the coast and take a couple of my bikes for my mates and my brother so we can hit the old haunts now again too. Apart from that, just link up with my mate Gaz and hit the bowls as not peeps around me like or ride old school BMX and think I should grow up FFS :2gunsfiring_v1: :uglystupid2: What do they know eh! :LolLolLolLol:
-
I ride my bikes but I don't have a problems with those that don't ... dowhatyalike :daumenhoch:

But did meet Animal (Steve) and his 2 MRDs.... :4_17_5:
These are things of beauty that are too good to ride
-
fook yeah.. when i can be bothered !
-
I have ridden most of mine, never ridden the pink GL or the Delta 2 yet but all the rest have been ridden :daumenhoch:
-
most vw shows i go to youll see handfuls of 40+ blokes riding around on oldschool bmx's.
its the only place i feel comfortable riding mine! :)
-
What were the results then Griff? :LolLolLolLol:
:LolLolLolLol: didn't expect to see this thread again
Results are now public, also added a cheese option
-
I ride my bikes badly and have problems with everybody
Ain't that the truth :LolLolLolLol:
