Hi all
Im currently looking at buying a 99/01 spesh hemi pro that is susposedly a 20inch frame. It is running on 20inch wheels at present but is brakeless. The seller says it wont fit brakes on as the bikes originally came with wheels that were race specific and were sized between 20-22 inch???
It is quite noticable that the brake bosses are locate in a diff place compared to my hemi comp which is a 20inch. ANyone know if this is true about the wheel size on the 20inch frame or is it more likely to be a 24inch frame? Looked at original spec of a 20inch and it had 20inch tyres on it, would they fit on a bigger wheel?
Thanks in advance

A 99 Hemi would take v-brakes/cantis regardless if it`s a 20" or a 24".Do you have a pic of this or your Comp to compare?
-
i have got a pic on another forum, am i allowed to link it
its looks just like my comp geometry wise but the brake bosses seem higher up
this is what i was told 'the bike is a junior racing bmx so you would have to change the rear wheel in order to have rear brakes. its classed as a 20 but its actually more like a 22" apparantly.'

If the bike is a junior, then it`d have ran 20 x 1 1/8 or 1 3/8 wheels & this will affect the rim position. You can get mini v-brakes to fit
-
well there was that comment on it being a junior but someone else said it ran summat between a 20-22inch wheel????
If it is a junior would these mini Vs work on a standard 20inch wheel

this is wat i was told
I've got some new rims and spokes for one of these
As you have probably already discovered they are a race specific diametre about halfway between 20" and 24".
ALANSBMX seems to be the best/cheapest source for bits

They were ,but that was a long time ago :daumenhoch: The RadBMX shop can get almost anything not listed on the website or there are a few race specialist shops around.
