Title: Bleaching tuffs - more info please
Post by: Munnyella on November 25, 2010, 09:12 AM
Right then, wheels were scrubbed, hubs stripped and vaselined up, box assembled and poly lined, wheels in box, jam jars full of water between spokes to save on bleach used, 18 litres of value bleach sloshed on, been sat for two days and have lightened considerably.

They are still much creamier than my new tuffs, am I to expect the same level of whiteness, or will they be a `winter' white, to be honest, I can't remember if old tuffs were really as white as the new ones anyway.

Comments please fellow bleachers!!

Mark

2 days isnt enough Mark, the last set I had I left in for about 3 weeks in total, but kept taking them out for a quick scrub every couple of days or so,

Yeah, they do take a while for best results but if you're in a hurry you could check out SteveP's thread where he accelerated the process by adding a bit of caustic soda.

I can't remember the exact amounts of naughty chemicals he used but the results really did speak for themselves.

Here's the thread.  http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=116368.0   :coolsmiley:
