Title: Robinson RSR finished
Post by: In2 bmx on December 04, 2010, 11:40 PM
Another Robinson Finished .. 1984 RSR pro ..

Big Thanks to SBD for the powder  :4_17_5:

Del for the decals  :4_17_5:

And Joff for his work on the Pedals and chainring ..  And for the deal we did for me to get the Robinson Pro bars he had on his kuwi ..  :-*  :4_17_5:

Anyway . Late 1983 Alan Woods found himself with the new Robinson frame and forks ,( without the gusset ) :(  as Robinson's never came as full bikes, he had his own decals made and started selling the RSR with his choice parts and as a full bike ..

Its not 100% to the original bike .. but pretty much .. I like to put my own twist on things ... :daumenhoch:

Sorry about the photo's it was snowing yesterday and raining today .. ??? oh And the Cranks not facing forward . :-[

Nice, I have the real thing, 100% survivor in my garage but an Expert, Alans shipped mine with ProClass bars confirmed by Alan himself as they ran out of Robinson bars  :daumenhoch:

How bad was the chrome to warrent getting it powdered?  I ask as they only came in chrome.

Here's mine, still in bits the moment though; hoping to get the rims sorted (rchrome or stripped and polished) in the next few weeks and built up in the New Year  :)

I found all that in your thread from 2 years ago Marty.it was a big help . Tony holland used to train at my house bitd.. He's on my face book but does'nt come on much ..

Anyway out of the 200 RSR's Alan did . There were about 20 red ones he had done Specialy   :daumenhoch:..  Thats why i did mine Red ..  Its a very rare Color for a Robinson...

There was a Rumor he had Gusset Robbo's left  he removed the Gussets and had them powdered to get shut of them BUT the RSR has the fatter down tube so that wasnt True..

Alan himself sold What i think was his Last Remaining RED RSR on ebay last year ..  i was bidding on it and it only went for £225   :daumenhoch:

The Parts Alan put on it that made it the RSR ..  Easier for him to shift them as a full bike ...
The Team RSR Robbo's had Redline flights Like the one Tony is riding in the photo...   I was so tempted to put Flights on it but glad i didn't  :daumenhoch:   Ive only even seen 1 other red one and that was the one for sale on ebay..  Im not sure if Alan still has his red one  :-\  . I remember him having a white one ..

Where did you find yours Marty ? you dont see many full bikes ike yours....  :smitten:

thanks andy . I must agree  It has got a better stance with the straight post than my pro with a layback ...
But i think Pads will spoil it .  :daumenhoch:

Yep, really nice build that mate, I had an RSR in '88/'89, bought it 2nd hand of Andy Richardson who was a superclass rider from doncaster i think. It was chrome, I mabye only got the f+f, can't quite remember. Reading this thread was great to find out the origins of the RSR name, never seen another since. I have asked a few times on UK/US forums over the last few years to see if anyone had one or knew about this seemingly rare model but always drawn a blank. I sold my f+f in late '89 for £30  :'( to a kid that never rode it  :'(  :'(

Outstanding that Carl.

I do like a Robinson and the RSR's Alan put together especially.  An awesome build.  :4_17_5:

Hopefully mine wont be too much different when completed............beautiful.  :daumenhoch:  Like you I've gone the SBD and Del combo........cannot go wrong!  I was gonna go with red and silver parts on mine, but looking at the black and silver combo.............. :-\

I won the red frameset Alan put on ebay last year, removed the stickers a few months back and sent them to Del for repro for use on the repowdered f/f.  If you got a copy of these ones then they're as close to the originals as they come.......if not better!!!  Quality piece of work from Del...

Mate, are they later forks.........86 era?  I've an 86 Pro with the less rounded forks.  Would like to know the timelines on the intro of the less rounded ones.  They seem to pop up on various years frames.

Nice piece of work mate............Crackin' collection of Robby's.

Well thanks for your kind remarks everyone . And thanks for sending the decals to Del jim . The ones on my bars and seatpost are originals from bitd  .   :daumenhoch: and it's good to see the one that got away on eBay again .I'm looking forward to seeing it finished,  You don't see many . The forks changed in 84 when the robbo lost the gusset .  :daumenhoch:
