Hi radsters,
ive just purchased a used aero reflex f+f for my daughter and have read a lot of bad publicity on rear standers ,
cos theres a tendancy to catch your heals and cause injury so im considering grinding them off,but has anyone else
done this and does it leave holes in tubes ,i expect scars but would just cover with grip tape or stickers any advise apreciated thanks. :daumenhoch:
-
I wouldn't :(
-
It pains me to even consider defacing an old school frame hence the advice required. :daumenhoch:
-
::) me neither......
but depends what you paid for it I suspose - if you do it will be worth nothing after.. :-\
-
Paid 50 quid for it on the bay reflex frame tioga forks which im considering a swap shop for aero forks eventually,
lookin like standers may stay just wondered if butchered would they leave holes in tubes , :daumenhoch:
-
think 'rollin' did it - he will post in thread later probs or pm him..
-

do it, it doesnt leave holes in your frame, if you re-sell it your never going to make big bucks anyway, if it stops your daughter injuring herself its a no brainer, i put a couple of decals over the marks it left :daumenhoch:
nice1 gaz ^"^

sorry been drinking! :-[

if i remember correctly once youve cut through the 1st side you can just snap the other side, then file down the rough bits, as with anything just take your time :daumenhoch:
sid :LolLolLolLol:

i cut mine off and filed them down flush and then gave the marks left a polish with a polishing wheel so they came up like the surrounding chrome and just clear laquered over...job done
but you could just coever in grip tape as that wouldnt look out of place for a freestyle frame anyway :daumenhoch:
here ya go 8th bike down with the "gt pro series" decals on

can you not wrap them in that stuff they put on tennis racket handles to make em safer? maybe get a hammer and bend em out the way so you can bend em back a a later date?
-
Just cut them off , they will cut through your ankles like a cheese grater , refelx's arent worth fook all anyway . Like Gaz said as a matter of safety its a no brainer. :) If you take your time you can make a neat job of it and nobody would no the difference.
