Pretty good for that money I think, but what is production chrome ? is that the powder coat chrome finish ?

Works out about £193

i think production chrome is show chromes poorer brother, apparently show chrome is way to expensive these days, maybe thats why we are usually disappointed when we get our own stuff rechromed.production chrome is still elctro plated chrome

Mark Show chrome is triple plate , copper ,nickel, then the chrome like I get done at Howells in walsall (when they ain't hammering collectors item frames  :tickedoff: ) My guess would b similar 2 what ur saying in that production chrome may b only the copper or nickel then the chrome or just straight chrome onto the steel  ;) Sometimes as Gashead has said before is that they pre polish the tubes before assembly. I guess they then buff the welds then bang on the chrome . Cheap as chips  ::) thats probably why the blue tint in the original chrome on TA's

Just got this straight from the horses mouth, seems they didn't see too well  :(

Hello,

I wanted to get in touch with you in regard to the GHP 24" frame/fork and bars project. This has been unfortunate and I am truly sorry for the delays. My idea was to base this entire project on giving the people something special, we had about 85 people step up and say they wanted the 20" frame and forks so we went forward knowing that if we could sell 100 it would make it possible to get 50 24" frame, fork and bars and have this project fund itself.

Once the 20" GHP retro frame set arrived we actually sold about 40 and more than half the people who said they wanted one backed out. This along with a slow economy and a lot of complaining by negative people on the BMX message forums basically led to me saying OK I need to wait on this a bit.

As I type this a 24" GHP frame, fork and bars set from 1984 is in route to my vendor and the project will begin after new years. Were only making 30 sets, that will cover everyone who has paid a deposit and leave a few left for us and were done..

Again I am very sorry for the delay in this project and appreciate your patience..The building will begin mid January and I will keep you posted as to the progress, looking to be completed by March 2011.Yea I know, again I am sorry.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,

Greg Hill

wow, thats a bit dissapointing,i feel for greg a bit,i think tho with this retro market you have to price accordingly.the current price of the ghp frames is now a really good deal, especially if you dont fancy paying £350+ for an 80's original,it makes it worth while.i think the retros were originally £350,when you can buy the real deal for the same money if youre lucky then its no wonder that they flunked.shame tho cos they are for me the best repop out there,an exact copy of the 80's frameset

Marky,, the check is in the mail....lol...

I did work out a deal with Greg to get the remainder of the 20" replica frame and fork kits.  I also will be getting in chrome GHP bars in both pro and pro cruiser sizes.  Those should be here in about a month or so.....

Well you can't steal from the government mate, if you want to import something you have to pay the duty and vat, that's a fact of life. Do you tell the checkout girl at Tesco's you don't want to pay the tax? Not trying to start a row, just stating the obvious, if you want to buy something, you pay tax.

i think those plans have been shelved due to the lack of sales on the 20".i still think the 20" is by far the best repro out there by a mile :smitten:
