Well The little thing arrived this week and is already in the good hands of SBD :daumenhoch:..
Here are a few photos of the condition she was in ..
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ss250/in2signs/091.jpg)(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ss250/in2signs/095.jpg)(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ss250/in2signs/092.jpg)(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ss250/in2signs/096.jpg)(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ss250/in2signs/098.jpg)
I also bought the seat from the same guy i bought the f+f Off , he threw in the original seat post and excaliber clamp that was on this bike in 78 .. :)
I dont really want to remove the JT decal as its been on for probably 30 years and the seat is in pretty good shape and dated 05 78 but not sure what make it is :-\.
Has anyone ever used a substance or coating to bring the seat back to life a little bit .. without removing the decal ? Or should i just leave it ?
And there is a nut at the end ( but i can't get a spanner in ) >:( that i thought would make it easy to remove the bars so i could bring them back to life :) how can i get the fcukers out ??? Leave the seat in this stuff for 24hrs Carl
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_187273_langId_-1_categoryId_165594
Pretty much all the rust will be gone then. Mix 1 part with 9 parts water. Any stubborn stuff can be scraped off. :daumenhoch:

great project
seat is possibly an elina

Really looking forward to this build Carl :daumenhoch:
Interesting looking seat. Looks like it's got vintage track bike pedigree so probably good quality 8)

bin that tatty seat and stick a snake bend UL on it, PM Motomag Greg, he has loads :daumenhoch:
-
armorall gloss is great at bringing seats up.
spray plenty on and let it soak into the seat.
i got a kashi aero that kept gonna like a white dust on it.seemed like it was dried out or something.
gave it a good soak of that and been spot on ever since.
makes ya tyres all nice and shiny black too :daumenhoch:.

Hey Carl..... pretty sure that seat is a very early Elina Saddle fella.... I have a NOS slightly later version with the same bolt set-up underneath though mine has holes drilled in the sides too and has the usual gold Elina lettering on the sides :daumenhoch:
-
I know the robbos came as frame sets early on but could this be teh same seat on this bike, which is said to be an osaka- http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/robinson/36517/1

Do like that F+F Carl :daumenhoch: , great that you got the seat too ;)
-
great project
seat is possibly an elina
Gets my vote, definitely looks that way but would need a better pic of the underside of the seat where the markings are.
This will be a great build, are you going for some Shimano 600ex cranks and 7c's or 7b's?

Glad it landed safely bud :daumenhoch:, now let the transformation begin
Is it an Expert Carl 17.5 tt , I'd expect they'd only probably do one or maybe two sizes at that time of production ???
