Hi All.
This is a request as such that I am after as much freestyle footage as I can get my hands on.
Anything from really early Haro freestyle, BMX beat, early Collin Kefford Competitions, TV shorts, right up until now (the early stuff is what I need to really gather up at this point though ).
Riders whos footage I'd like to get my hands on would be (and this is in no order whatsoever, and I may have missed people out who's footage that I'm after).
Adu Bubu
Colin Platts
John Dye
Mike Canning
Lincon Blacksley
Phil Dolan
Gary McCallion
Angry Brown
Jasson Hassel
Paul Zak
Paul Gerlach
John Povah
Graham Marfleet
Wayne Ryder
Crazy Eric
Jaosn Lunn, etc, etc
If anyone has anything on DVD or VHS ( I prefer DVD's to work with, but beggars can't be choosers), please can they contact me (either PM or direct to the below email)
mylifeisfab@hotmail.co.uk
Any footage considered. Thanks for reading, and hopefully I'll be contacted by people that have footage!
-
What you after it for??
Aren't their copyright laws around this?
I ask because I have some bits!!
-
I'm after mainly Camcorder stuff that would be owned by oneperson. Once I have a list of bits of Footage that I'll use, I'll then have to negotiate a fee.
I'm collaborating on a Project with a few other riders that doesn't really have a focus at the moment, except BMX as the common theme.
Also, I don't actually have any footage of myself riding, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again:D
-
OK Cool.
-
There's probably NO footage of me riding anywhere, ever. Maybe if I'm lucky someone got a snap of me climbing through the car in my run at Chris Hardy's Rotheram Schoolyard Jam. Maybe there's an outtake on Slade's Smart People In A Car Crash, as he used a shot of you talking and I was sitting beside you at the time, and I was at Rom during that weekend's filming. Didn't Phil shatter a white skyway that time?
And try as I might I STILL can't find that damn BMX Beat tape with you on it.
Eric Steel (Crazy Eric?) was at one of the KOC's at Southsea same time as us (91 & 92? One year was by train, one by Ford Fiesta, if I remember right) Definitely, he loaned me a brake lever adjuster, which I still owe him for... Someone's definitely got footage of those, hopefully also Dolan's flatland run on his Gen 1 Master.
I'm sure the Tizer Worlds at Manchester was filmed, I just never saw it on TV. Lincoln rode flat there, I remember him practicing by the seats, doing tiny, tiny McCircles.
And Juice, you missed him out. He was damn good.
-
Lincon has shed loads (or so I'm told). He works in the city I think, but I've never bumped into him.
I lost my copy of Smart People.. I lent it to some twat who never returned it!!
The footage is out there, It's just getting my damn hands on it!
-
hey.. i have 2 tapes of lincoln's footage. it's currently being digitised by ross "cheeky monkey" milne for his barry on a burner video.. i can probably let you have a copy of it when he's done it. linx is living in chelmsford with his missus.. haven't seen him in a couple of years though.
pm me and i'll sort it for you
chris

I don't know if anybody has links with Either Effram Catlow Or Mason Smith but I have a feeling they may have some connection to people with videotape bits, if anyone on the site knows them personally could you please give them a shout to get in touch with Angry on this.
-
Send a pm to `costerbrake` he is Simon Kefford and has a load of footage :daumenhoch:

Dave
-
I've pm'd you, holla back!
-
Cheers Billy/Rom Bloke/Stace. Very much appreciated info!
I'm doing this with Colin Platts/John Dye. Should be intresting.
If anyone has any cam footage, Id love to get my hands on it. Especially Nick Elkan. He had shed loads ( one of the meanwhile crew. Everyone knew him as howard).
Cheers :D

I think you should add the names of :
Dave dean
lee reynolds
gerry galley
to the list :)
-
Lee Reynolds is a given anyway. Gerry Galley too.
And Dave Dean? I'll see what the others think, but not for my money. Nice enough fella though.
Like I alluded to, by no means was it a definitive list.
Some of the stuff Dave Slade did was pretty mental, and waz Zak.
-
Also I think there was a guy I met from Leigh On Sea he used to go to Rom quite a bit I know he took a lot of pics but I'm not sure about vids can't remember his name although he was a good bloke, anyone on here know him?
-
Dave Dean was the fakie wallride guy from southbank wasnt he?
I always get muddled up with dave dean, and dave d.
-
Yup, Dave dean was the southbank guy. Bit of a one trick pony to be honest.
-
Yup, Dave dean was the southbank guy. Bit of a one trick pony to be honest.
fairly true, but I think i was influenced by his freindly openess.
I also havent seen many people buny hop as high as that.
I remember seeing him getting real close to abubaca a car barrier near the southbank which was pretty tall by my memory ... but i was about 13 at the time so it may have seemed larger than it was.
-
Yup, Dave dean was the southbank guy. Bit of a one trick pony to be honest.
and always had a sh it attitude
sounds a good thing there andy as would be nice to see all the old southbank .meanwhile and chingford footage . as i went pass southbank the other day and the bank to wall is gone :(
can anyone remember the two guys that came down to meanwhile from canterbury as they did real high air`s at mw . one guy was tall ,dark hair and had a baby blue trickstar and other smaller with blonde hair and used to bust 7 out of the ramp easy . i think he had a master but can`t be sure or could have been a trickstar . saying that nearly everone rode trickstar`s then
i rode with them a few years later at a indoor bus garage in canterbury but for life of me can`t remember there names .
also ygt did you ride then ?
-
I actually grew up in canterbury during the years 1988 - 1994 and remember that bus depot real good.
Saying that I am not sure of the time frame that you are refering to the 2 guys as I dont think either were from canterbury (I dont remember those bikes)
The biggest name I know of that came out of canterbury was "Fids - aka mark finlay" as he lived there for a while with a guy called "Jez"
close by (town = selling) in the eary 90's lived a guy called "Charles Kensit" who was mosstly a flatland rider who did the southbank quite alot and was fairly ok at street too .... he used to ride a dyno or a prolite craig cambell frame.
Close by in Ashord during 1992 onwards we saw riders like "Dean Hearne" who is nowadays sponsored by federal/united.
During the late 80's early 90's there was "James Mulby" from Kearsney near dover who rode flat and street.
He had a freind from folkestone called "Mark Guy" who also rode flat.
And there was some other mostly flat rider from Margate? who was real short and rode a master (i think his name was pete )
I met a vert rider (mike?) arround 1990 who came to canterbury from tunbridge i think or somewhere between canterbury and london on the train line.
I cant remeber any good vert riders that rode trickstars or masters from arround that time though from canterbury.
-
may be they weren`t from canterbury but did ride the bus depot around early 90`s and before that i used to see them at meanwhile back in 88 89 poss .i only rode the depot as one of my ex`s was at the college there that how i found it as she told me i got some pics somewhere of the bus depot and a few from the jam at chingford . when i get my scanner working again i post them up .
-
bump - this sounds like a good project
-
I think David Frame might be a good contact for vids is anyone in touch with him.
-

I saw Mason on Friday and we had a good chat (still haven't written anything up yet sorry :-[ ), he has around 20 old videos of Knebworth, ROM, Kellogs, Bob and his comps etc etc. I was going to talk to him more about it and also hope to see his private collection of stuff too. Does any of this sound of use?
J.
-
Hi Greentoad This sounds very good and if possible could you have a word with Mason on this for me. If he is interested in helping out I will contact him.
-
i think the 2 guys from canterbury someone was asking about, could have been john tugwell and jason dacum from dover they rode chingford a fair bit and menwhile too, they were old gillingham locals.
-
union cheers for that , both good rider`s and yes they did ride meanwhile a bit .
-
Colin
I have a copy of everything you ever lent me. therefore if you have lost any thing that you need again then let me know.
that includes the car crash stuff and other bits and bobs. its all safe in a draw at my mothers house.
mind you the quality of all that old stuff was poor at the best of times so it would be interesting to see what can be done with it.
-
I could do with a copy of everything especially Car Crash all the stuff I had was destroyed a while back I hope we can sort something out please get in touch.
-
Thanks for getting in touch Rich give me a shout when you are about and I will pick up the discs off ya
