Title: 82/3 GT Expert
Post by: Andy68 on January 23, 2011, 06:14 PM
First build, here's part 1............

Decided to get it powder coated and well chuffed with the finish.  ;D  Photo doesn't do it justice (my camera's pants!!).

Next job, save hard for a shiney Tuf Neck stem and shiney side Arayas or Ukais.

Thanks so far to Del, Martin & Pete :daumenhoch:

My mate had a black chrome on BITD, lovely bike, although it faded out with time on the rear end, nice and gradually, smokey on the rear dropouts to black at the BB, you couldn't replicate it!!

has anyone got a OG black chrome, would love to see one.

Nice looking project anyway.

Yeah the only black chrome one i've seen was  one on US Ebay over a year ago ,,told Pete (Bernice ) about it , and didn't bid on it because I knew he really wanted one
He pm'ed the guy for price and shipping

He didn't buy it ,,went snowboarding instead ,,, I could have foookin bought it for well under  £400 landed ,,original nice survivor finish

fook fook fook

Nice expert BTW Andy

These were actually called GT standard, not expert ,, I had a chrome one Christmas 1983 with the 1982 Nora seat tube decal

same spec as this , I replicated a few years ago

Oh...... no such thing as an expert then???  ???  Every day's a school day!!
I had a right game with the stickers and after buying a couple more (when I screwed up) I'm still not really happy with 2 of em. Does the soapy water trick work with foil stickers too??  Think I'm suffering with me OCD!!!!  :uglystupid2:
Not convinced the headset bearings are running true either, the fork stem 'race'? doesn't seem to want to sit 100% square. It's near as damn it but the forks seem to have a slight tight spot (not overtightened)............ Best do some work..........  :P

Well technically yes , but the were called GT standard  :)

Standard  with Expert sized 17.5 top tube

as opposed to the

Pro4  with  Pro sized 18.5 top tube
