Post by: Betty on January 29, 2011, 08:35 PM
Why oh why did they make that daft arsed long wedge out of soft as cheese alloy...

I've just stripped the thread in one just tightening it enough so the stem doesn't move

Second time i've wrecked the threads.... what a bag o shite!

Got a wanted ad up if anyones got a spare?

If your wedgie is the same as my GT stem then im guna try and get one of the machinists in college to make me a couple out of steel if possible.

Don't be too harsh! The Wedgie Jackson was actually invented by our own S&MAlex!

Yeah but the first one I made was steel, and used a hollow stem bolt. I guess it makes sense to use ally cos the steel one was quite heavy.
Either way, it stopped 1" fork steer tubes bending .... a mear months before A-head forks/stems came out  :crazy2:  :2funny:

Oops... Sorry Alex...  :-[

But they are shite...  :LolLolLolLol:

Can understand why they were made of alloy, rednecks are heavy enough to start with!

Think i'll look out for a profile stem and bin the redneck

Yeah, i dont know why they made them in ally, or at least made them with a bigger bolt. The stem and shaft are the best 1" stem you'll get.
