Title: removing rust

found some sugino chainring bolts in back of shed today what i put away 18 months ago :D got  rust on them now so just wanting to know what i could use to clean them with ::)

Smells better than Coke too. Just don't rub your eyes before washing your hands.

Malt vinegar works a treat, 17p for half a litre at tesco, I went and bought about 30 bottles to put in a large container to remove rust from car parts and worked really well, just let them soak for 24 hours then scrub with a stiff nylon brush. and dont put alloy parts in or they disapear supposedley!

Vinegar or Lemon juice - coke is crap.

I actually use citric acid powder diluted in water now as it's far cheaper than lemon juice or vinegar per litre and it's the acid that's doing the work at the end of the day ;)

Using the citric Acid powder also means you can fully submerse large items without buying gallons of vinegar or lemon juice !  :D

Poundland do a bottle of rust remover, just add water .
Not tried it though
