Some of you may remember recently i built a bike for my nephew as his mum coldnt afford one for him. I dont see him all that often so it was the least i could do. Anyway I found out today that he had had it for 3 days before it was stolen from the shed where he lives. And he was too upset to tell me.
So I ask you all to please keep your eyes peeled on ebay gumtree any classified sites for this unique looking Diamondback Joker, in ford metallic colours, with DMR grips

Thank you BE for you kind offer, but as ive just said to davemac over on burnerworld [ http://burnerworld.8.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=347894#347894 ] Im not trying to levy free stuff out of people, Im just hoping that as some time has passed since it was stolen, and the fact that i have only just found out, the idiots that stole it may be stupid enough to have held onto it and will decide soon to try and get shot of it.
Thank you again for the kind offer, we'll get him sorted at some point though
-
thieving cnuts
got some bars that came off my mongoose & I swapped em as they were too small for me - couple of rusty spots but think they're cro-mo (didn't want to chuck em in a skip)
you're welcome to em when you're ready LMK (should probably get a big lock for the shed first)

It will prob be for sale in all black and no brakes...
-
I'm in for wheels.... got some black alex rim wheels - brake wear on the black rear rim but good enough wheels still - will send them if needed... :daumenhoch:
and some Maxxis tyres, got an Odyssey headset too... will think about rest.
Bollocks to the thieving sh*ts... lets get that new bike built...
Things like this come up on RAD from time to time and the way that the top people on here react is always the same... pull together with bits of bike or donations and make something happen.
Helping out with things like this is 100% RADBMX... :daumenhoch:
-
Jaymz
stick a list up of all the parts you need and we can pick the bits we can help out with :)
1.Ed
-
Mate i know your not after a hand out - we all know that and understand - i have about five or six mongoose 2000 jobs in need of a little work
if i send you a near complete bike then you can see what else you need to sort out a new one for him
give me two days to sort one out ;)
-
Thank you, I rellay didnt expect this much feedback tbh
@ Zombie : Its seems to be a pandemic recently here, normally Hereford is pretty crime free, but this is the second bike we've had stolen, the other was my sons back in May, just before I got back into OSBMX, I had just bought myself a 2010 GT vertigo and I gave him that at the time. And I can name 10 other bikes that have gone walks that I know of
@ llk : My thoughts exactly, Ive been scanning all the matt black bikes on the bay since i found out as its the quickest fix to cover a bikes identity
@ BE : you serious???
Ive already gone through my stash and as im not a hoarder of parts, I dont have a lot kicking around, Old school wise I have a set of dyno forks and a copy suntour stem, a black opc. pair of vp placcy pedals, a profile style sprocket, DiaCompe MX101 right hand brake lever. some brake blocks
New school I have a tatty apollo MX20.2 frame and forks that i robbed all the parts off to build the db in the first place!!! Pair of veerubber street tyres and a set of v brakes for the aollo frame if they are complete with all bits.
-
i've got a 2000 (ish) GT performer in yellow with retro GT decals, gold hombre brakes, GT stem and SE bars you can have if you want it?
:daumenhoch:
-
Oh my god I really don't know where to look or what to say at all of this. I am thoroughly blown away by this
-
Looks like You're already well covered but I'll put up a Hoffman Deebo frame, some forks & bars etc if You need them :daumenhoch:
-
James I will pick him up a tesco bike lock just let me know when he gets a bike sorted.
;)

...looks like a nice kid that likes a bmx 8) Jaymz' nephew being poured over with bike parts .. that is so .. rad :smitten:

I know I really am lost for words. He's going to start coming to track with my son and I soon.
I wish he'd told me sooner about the bike going missing, as its been about 4 months. And I think we'll never see it again as we havent got my lads one back, although his was sighted once, and as I know of a few that have gone walkabouts recently I've kept a keen eye on Cash Generator for over a year now.

where do you live Jay?

the old border is a little close for comfort :crazy2:

Maybe we should have a "parts for free to good causes" section on here?
My brother Simon (Hootski70 on here) have built quite a few skip finds back up and given them away to deserving causes so to speak and always have a few odds and sods lying about.
By the way, I've got a black Mongoose Menace f&f, headset, stem, saddle and a few gubbins to get started on a build if you are interested Jaymz?
Cheers
Spen
-
No idea how to go about this but all donations to jacks bike fund will now be greatly appreciated
Thank you all in advance
-
J buddy got 3 burners coming next week, if your Nephew is cool with having a burner I will restore and build him one just pay me a tenner postage bud :daumenhoch:
-
Ive sent you a pm Ali.
I dont think a burner is for him, he doesnt understand what old school is and the frame height is higher than a new school hence why i built the diamond back for him.
OK So I have rooted around in the shed and I have found
A pair of alex rims with 14mm axels, front has a slight wobble but no biggie
Pair of V rubber tyres
A tatty diamondback 3 piece crank and diamondback pedals
A black opc &set of 1/2inch placcy pedals
A DC MX101 lever
A fake profile chainring
So this is what i have to start a build with, midschool/new school judging by the wheels i have to start off with

-
OK, just been in the garage and I have the saddle for that bike too, albeit a bit scuffed, it's the Mongoose one it came with. Needs seatguts though......
Oh, and 25.4mm seatpost tube as suspected, but Dordy had that along with the seat guts months ago in one of his cover of darkness raids...... :LolLolLolLol:
If you want it, pm me where to send it all to :daumenhoch:

What an incredible thread, and what an examplary show of community and human kindness.
I wish I could contribute, but I have nothing to offer beyond words of support at the moment.
Great work, peeps! :daumenhoch:

Jay mate I wouldn't put your postal address on an internet forum
while I'm sure Rad members are a good bunch it's still free for any scamming fooker to browse
bars are out of the shed will be posted out this week :daumenhoch:
btw for rim tape just use electrical tape (a quid for 6 rolls at poundland)

Reading this thread fills me with an immense sense of pride
I only have 1 build & am currently trying to source/acquire parts for a 2nd
There-fore I have no parts to donate to this worthy cause
It how-ever appears that all bases have been covered & some
In times of need it never ceases to amaze me the generosity of people
I am glad that I am part of the community that is RAD & long may it continue
Top work lads :daumenhoch: :4_17_5:

Rob ... have you got any sort of rear brake... I've got bits to make one but not found them all yet?

yeah, what do you want.....normal caliper style or 990 one?

It's got 990 mounts kids :daumenhoch:
-
cool, i've got a gold AD990 if thats any good to you........let me know where to send it to :daumenhoch:
-
Looking at the pics of it pickle it could take both as it has a caliper brake fitted in the pic but there are 990 mounts underneath it, for the sake of simplicity a standard caliper would be the easiest, as 990 there's all those little bits springs cable hangers specific length bacles GRR pain in the bum

am i sending them to you Jay or to Spen? AD990 are much better and really are a piece of cake to set up but i can send both :daumenhoch:

Jaymz, with a bit of luck your postie will be struggling down the road with a Mongoose shaped parcel bud as I made it to the post office this afternoon, despite the best efforts of my 2yr old not wanting her afternoon nap and being a pain in the ass when I was trying to pack it up - take a pick when it arrives, you'll never guess what it is :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

So thats where i came from!! I opened the bag and the office phone rang, so i put it down to answer the call, and was rummaging around on my very very untidy desk and knocked the jiffy bag off, picked it up and took out the brakes, then about 10 mins later went to make a tea and theres a lolly pop on the floor, thought it was a bit strange!!!! Cheers fella, I'll give that a good seeing to on my way home from work, it'll stop me from smoking on the way home on the car!!!
-
should've been another lever in there as well as i saw you've only got one marked up so thought you'd need another :daumenhoch:

yes mate, and cheers for the stickers too, this lil goose is going to look awesome, will start to plish the frame with some compound tonight, it'll shine like new by the time ive finished, cant wait to take him out on it, he's going to think hes the cats pyjamas on it
-
Ha ha - you may need to borrow a chainsaw to get through the bubble wrap Jaymz - sorry about that, but I hadn't got a box for it! Hope this works out ok as I have kept that frame for months refusing to throw it away as I knew that a project like this would come along eventually - I originally gave it to my mate's son but at MK last year got him a chrome Haro twin-top-tube Zippo so it's been going spare ever since :daumenhoch:
I would only use pledge to polish the frame Jaymz, I think I flashed over it with black spray to cover a couple of scratches bud, so you'll take it back off if you go too agressive
I never thought to send sweets to keep your sugar levels up trying to get it all unpacked and built out of random bits....... :2funny:
-
it took a while to get into it spen XD there's now small polystyrene balls surrounding my desk :D But im a keen recycler of packaging so its all been carefully removed tape removed and folded and put in the wrapping cupboard at work! Nothing goes to waste. Cheers fella :daumenhoch:
-
Good man - that's at least the second time all that bubble wrap has been used, so do your best to re-cycle it :daumenhoch:

It'll be winging its way north to lancs soon as i have a biketo send up to a member on RB, so it'll get used then, recycling FTW!! That bubble wrap will have seen more of the UK than me soon!!!
-
great stuff - wasn't me that sent the inner tube tho, just the bars :daumenhoch:
talking of recycling packaging - I got my haro bars from SBD in that boomerang pack and they've since been to yorkshire and back before I used the same box to send the mongoose bars to you. the packing tape must be over 10 layers thick in places ;D
can't wait to see it built up!
-
ahh mustve been munny then, this thread is getting epically long and deciphering through it takes a whiole

this is where its at, the crankset and pedals are still hung in my old mans workshop drying [well they must be dry by now] I had polished all the frame and it was nice and shiney, but installing the brakes has let my grubby mit marks all over it1!!

Looking good Jaymz - like the bit of gold bling on it, but I think you may need to trim that cable a bit - sorry I cut the gyro tabs off it bud - I hate the bloody things though, and the lad I built it for originally wanted good brakes :daumenhoch:
Here's what he graduated up to from it, so he's done ok out of me, but you can see where the rest of the 'Goose went to :LolLolLolLol:
