Title: Quality BB Set for OPC
Post by: Clean on March 20, 2011, 09:16 PM
Well.....

I have ignored all advice and managed to smash the budget that I didn't actually bother to set myself but should have done!  :uglystupid2:

The only really key thing missing is a BB Set for an OPC. I would like something quality but not stupid o'clock.  :knuppel2:

Can anyone recommend a new, or NOS, BB set for my 1985 build, please?..... And what should I expect to pay?

Thanks,

Clean.  :coolsmiley:

Cheers for the input, people.

Just ordered a set.

All that is needed now for my nOoB build, would you believe, is a Seatclamp!

What colour and brand.
Put a post in the wanted section and you will be flocked with offers. I got a nice silver GT if you are interested.  :daumenhoch:

That's a decent BB Set but I've found those rubber seals can be a bit fragile as they're quite thin.
It might be better to go for a Tange BB like this for the same kind of money: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMX-TANGE-BOTTOM-BRAKET-OLD-SKOOL-SKYWAY-SE-PK-HARO-GT-/260754427682
Or as your budget is blown anyway, maybe a nice sealed Tioga set like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Tioga-BMX-Sealed-Bearing-BB-220-SB-Bottom-Bracket-/150579714552

All that said, there's probably generic loose-ball BB sets out there for around a tenner that would do just as well on a rider.
The important thing is to get the right TPI (threads per inch). Most OPC & BB you'll come across will be 24TPI but there are some 28TPI products out there as well.
Maybe others, I dunno ;D Anyway, hope some of that waffle helps ;D :daumenhoch:

Thanks for the input, mate.... the unit I have actually bought is the BB220ST referred to in the text in your link, so all looks good!
