i need your opinions for the most iconic bmx frmaes of the 90's
not talking about lists of every frame made, just the most important ones......
could you post up top 5 please?
cheers.... :-*
-
1: S&M Dirtbike
2: Standard Trailboss
3: T1 Barcode
4: Hoffman Condor
5: S&M Holmes
Couldn't think of a fifth off top of my head so put Holmes but no1 should read Dirtbike/Holmes
Opinions will no doubt vary, they're my top five.... maybe subject to change... ;D
-
Good list :) I'd go:
1. S&M Dirtbike
2. Hoffman TAJ
3. Standard STA
4. Hoffman Condor
5. GT Performer (as nearly every other bmx I saw in the 90's was a Performer).
Although I'll probably edit this when I've thought some more..... ;)
-
1 dirtbike
2 holmes
3 homeless mack
4 soul bro
5 standard shorty
-
Hi Joe, haven't seen you post for a while
sorry I know nothing about 90s bmx as I had deserted kid's bikes in favour of other activities
does seem like the dirtpipe is a clear favourite already though, what are they like to ride?

Dirty ;D
Built for trails but transferred to street really well - I'm a lanky sod, and the geometry was still good - quite a few frames 'borrowed' from the geometry of the Dirtbike - DK General's being one of them (and another late 90's classic).
-
for me its:
1: Standard STA
2: S&M Dirtbike
3: Hoffman Condor
4: T1 Barcode
5: KHE Catweasle
the bottom one is random as fook, but my fav bike back then :LolLolLolLol:

s&m dirt bike, STA, Lenghty/shorty.
I think Dirt bike would be the most iconic as - they were everywhere, mostly I think due to being fairly cheap and s&m haing a great kind of underground rep/image.
hoffmans condor frame was iconic too.

silly question...should there be two lists of iconic midschool frames?
1" threaded and 1 1/8" ahead? you know...early mid...which is actually old school tech mostly, 1" threaded but 990s starting to appear, and acutal mid, when the bikes got strong and heavy?
-
Joe- were you asking for a thread of peoples “Favourite” frames from the 90s, or for the frames that people thought were the most “Iconic”? I think anyone who lists 5 frames from one bike company is either using hindsight in their favour, or they were very blinkered at the time. Im not even going to bother giving my suggestions for 5 frames, (the ones I’d pick have all been listed already) but if I did, they sure as hell wouldn’t be a list of frames from only one company.
(having said all that, I do LOVE that LENNY-LENTINI listed different colour Holmes frames, like they were totally different bikes! :2funny:)

oooh alex don't be all harsh on me!!! ;)
OK, gritted teeth, the t1s and kings were nice.
As was the mother of all iconic 90s heaviness, the Zima!!
-
HaHa, nice one Alex
You caught me using the power of suggestion, that in my opinion nothing can compete with The Holmes as 'The' Iconic frame of the nineties.
Was gonna list Holmes (green) and Holmes (Black) as 3rd and 4th but then decided other frames deserved a shout.
Keep the faith Brother. L

t1 barcode. was just 'so cool'
-
1 ketch karma

Ah sh1te - we can go moronic as well? In that case:
1. Hoffman Evel Kinieval - for being possibly one of the heaviest POS known to foul the late 90's
2. Anyone who thinks there's a difference between a Hoffers TAJ and a T1 Barcode ;) (Yes not a bike but a gripe)
3. The Condor (or the film Condorman).
There's more but I feel bad for posting.......
-
While we are playing this game
TNT HWA FONG DADDY...
-
1. GT Show
2. Morales Freestyler
3. Hoffman Big Daddy
4. KHE Premium Lagger
5. Standard TAO or S&M Sabbath
-
Old thread back from the dead :LolLolLolLol: :daumenhoch:
I've realised that most of the replies are from folk who don't come on here anymore......
-
Not a make I know much about tbh but I was out of bmx in the 90s if the s&m Sabbath was 90s, I would say that should be pretty high on a list, fat black beanie street riders ride of choice for a long time.
Bully was a good shout
Bashguard haro master?
dirtbikes or Holmes don't fit unless you are looking for 90s iconic like burners were iconic in the 80s
-
Not necessarily the correct order for most iconic but for me, my personal icons in favourite order
1. S&m challenger
2. S&m holmes
3. T1 barcode
4. S&m kriss bennett
5. Standard trailboss
-
It's been a few years.
KHE dirty buster
ACE racing TITS
Dmr trigger
Gary fisher pure bender
Specialised tj lavin Vegas bonanza
Do I win £5?
-
The Mosh frame with chequer plate welded to the toptube
KHE's bean can headtube frames
Barracuda with the errr, Barracuda dropouts
Everything else was junk.
-
Didn't Wethepeople start in the late 90's with the Thrillseeker?
-
I may be getting muddled up but I think the wtp pony came out first, closely followed by the thrillseeker & kh01.
-
Mine would be
Hoffman Condor
S&M Dirtbike / Holmes
Morales - Flatland
Hoffman Taj
Standard STA
