Title: Last summers rider
Post by: hotdog on April 05, 2011, 02:01 AM
Bought this about three years ago from the States with it having spent the previous twenty odd years in someones shed. I cleaned it up,swapped a couple of parts (mainly the Race Inc bars for Renthals and the Araya 7x wheels for Skyways) so it rode like the bike I had back in '82. The seat post and forks were rusted and needed a re-chrome but the frame was in fantastic condition including the OG decals. Around the time it was being shipped I made some enquiries as to what the import duty/vat would be when it finally arrived. I was a little shocked to hear it'd be around 300 pounds!  so my Mk 1 Raleigh Chopper had to go.  :'(  Ten days later the UPS van pulls up outside and I go out to sign for the box with the 300 in my pocket. "What's the damage then?" I asks the driver, having signed on the dotted line. "Nothing mate,"  comes the reply, "It's only come from Birmingham"
He was right... in a way. Birmingham ALABAMA.     RESULT! :2funny:
Enjoy
