im looking at buying some for my 84 gt build cos there fairly reasonably priced and look class far better than 1pc... couple of questions
are they easy to fit bb etc
can you fit a spider with em if so what would you recommend? :daumenhoch:
used to have a cw 3peice crank back in the day but me dad(rip) fitted that

Fit a set tonight mate and it was dead easy. I always had one piece cranks and thought it looked a bit complex but was fairly simple.
And they look sweet :daumenhoch:

Easy one to answer this...
You wont win a contest with them on as they are not ERA correct.
1. Easy to fit... yes reasonably easy to fit including the bottom bracket. most people get an M18 bolt big washers and just wind the bearings in. or a big hammer has the same effect
2. Yes when you buy a new set they normally come with a top hat washer that converts the spindle from 19mm to 22mm which spiders are.
take your time and it will be a piece of pi55

whats an m18 bolt? forgive my ignorance :LolLolLolLol:

The alloy bearing caps were a little on the BB as they have a slight ridge to stop them falling out. Bearings are easy. Large socket that fits the OUTER bearing case, flat peice of wood, large hammer, 2 whacks later all in. The spindle just slides through. Easy :coolsmiley:

M is metric
18 is the diameter of the thread
so it is narrow enough to feed through the bottom bracket and pull the cups in :daumenhoch:
note the bolt has to be long enough to fit through the bottom bracket and the cups not inserted. I would say 200mm is long enough :daumenhoch:

Use it to put headset cups in as well :daumenhoch:

That'll do the job ;D

Hell yes and you are not going to miss with the hammer and mess up your shiny GL :daumenhoch:
-
:LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: I knocked my bearings in 1st, they sat inside the cups so I was able to flush fit the socket. Placed cups just inside BB, wood over the top, WHACK and she was in :daumenhoch: Both sides, piece of pi55 :coolsmiley:

The new school ride a lot better. But the old single pinch are Sweet :smitten: :smitten:. I had twin pinchers until a few months ago and they are the Mutts. :daumenhoch:
I only got the twin pinchers as I had a new rider in the pipeline... My GL Plus

You know what bro, I looked at this earlier and I hope you leave the bars green. It makes it stand out. I would love them bars but the only set on here are white and £225 bucks. Too dear for a rider so I settled for EZ bars.
Tha DP will look sweet when its done and I know they came with i piece cranks but I :smitten: chrome 3 piece redlines. Even the 3 piece I have on Haro (Haro cranks early 90s) look sweet too. Its the chrome I reckon ;D
I was going to chrome my F+F but the cost again was too high just for rider.

Bars are now white Sorry. I was so torn with what to do but when I pulled it out of the bike room it didnt look right. Especially with the green Haro, Back in the day I had white Ladder bars aswell :daumenhoch:
The DP was never sold from the factory as a complete bike... GL had redline 400's and Trevor Cowell rode 401's. I knew the two of them. I lived about a mile from the factory and knew Dave Park aswell.
Shops used to construct the bikes and sell them as complete and spec varied depending on where you purchased it from :daumenhoch:
I am going for Sugino CT 175's on my GL

Hardware looks much better. Did you buy from Joe? Good bit of history there :daumenhoch: I lived in Bognor Regis growing up, nothing there history wise ;D

CT's are nice and will look the nuts
PS That Haro looks sweet too :smitten:

when fitting the sealed BB be carefull with the spacer tube that goes in the middle as they come in different lengths and some times has to be cut or spaced.
it has to be done correctly or eventually you will have a bearing failure

i dont mind these cranks on modern rider bikes but they proper do my head right in on old schoolers :crazy2:.
many a bike has been built with nice bits to be ruined with twin pinch or prolines.
opc is a loads better option.
just me though before i starts a fight :)
