Title: got plenty of land / yard
Post by: Darren KAP on April 23, 2011, 09:36 PM

Having been to the Blackpool ramp nights a couple of times its now got me thinking of first building a half pipe in my company yard among other ramps  ;)  the half pipe as  we were having a bit of a measure today -- how does 16 foot wide 8 or 10 foot tall and approx 60 feet long sound plus there's plenty of parking so would any of the guys on here fancy a play , whoops forgot to say i'm in Keighley , West Yorkshire ,

Second question would there be a demand for a indoor ramp venue in Keighley as  i'm  thinking of possibley setting one up if a suitable  unit can be found ,

Any imput would be welcome guys

       Cheers Darren  :daumenhoch:

Is 16 feet the total width or just the flat bottom?
Was thinking about a ramp in the garden and the advice I was give was that for a decent mini ramp set up you will need 25 feet for platform, transition and flat bottom.

16ft wide is good, but 60ft long is way too much, you be better off going 20ft wide and about 36ft long with 16ft flat bottom and 4ft decks, and don`t go too high either, about 6ft high with 7ft transitions would be a nice size  :daumenhoch:

16 feet is the width of the ramp , we was thinking of having up to 40 feet flat inbetween but space is not a issue so its likely to be bigger , you can't beat a big one  :LolLolLolLol:

16 foot wide is spot on, 8 - 10 foot high is well big, but if you've got 60 foot flat probly be fine.  If it were me, I would not go higher than 8 foot and I'd try build a spine or volcano in the middle too + a wall ride at one end- I'll have a measure up of my ramps next time I'm over for you, Its 6 foot tall.

heres what mine looks like (bit rough, but does the job  :D ) +scroll down past the first two pics

Had a sort of measure.

14ish foot of flat from 6 foot high pipe to 4 foot high volcano.  The top of the volcano is about 2 foot, then another 14ish foot of flat to 6 foot pipe with a slanted wall ride on top.  You might find that tight, but it seems roomy to me as I'm used to riding tight trails.  I'm not much of a ramp rider, but its alot of fun - nothing in this world like building your own ramp and riding it, everyone should if you get some free space time and a bit of cash + wood donations etc.

Darren,

I thoroughly support your project and will gladly test-fall it for you! Happy to chip in to the costs for occassional access!  :daumenhoch:

Ditto the above on an indoor venue!  :daumenhoch:

Great work, fella!  :daumenhoch:

+2

Thanks,

Clean.
