Title: Oh dear....
Post by: Andy68 on April 29, 2011, 11:02 AM
Just got me XC cages out the oven pride bag, didn't realise they shouldn't have been left over night or I guess it shouldn't have been used at all!! Now looking like a 1000000yr old fossil.   :'(  Wot a complete waste of money that was and I got stung with import duty!! Lesson learned I guess.

First build and this is gonna be my last!!!!!!!  Or is it..................... ;D

bit of elbow grease and they should come back up - find out what is best to bring them back up with so you can't destroy them

sorry not to have a go - but this is a lesson of doing the home work - working out what is best and what works well - this is where RAD is great for finding out from others what is best and what works well - ask as many question, to find out what you need to get the best out of what you are doing

measure twice and cut once as they say

i'm not having a go and feel bad for you as i know what it is like, when you have paid well for some thing and in the resto work doesn't turn out well  ;)

i hope there can be brought back to life and will hard work and careful thinking it out you will not have lost you pedals

good luck, cheers B  ;)

Flintstones definitely!!!!  :LolLolLolLol:

Here ya are fellas, wot a mess!!  ;D Sad thing is they were looking good but then I got a tad bored of flatting away and decided to help things along when I found the Oven Pride, big mistake!!!! I have another pair, having those cages powder coated at the mo' but fancied a polished set too. Gonna have to build a 'rat look' now....................

Shut up about the seat too, nearly finished!!!!!  :P

I say use some metal filler on them, sand them smooth and then get them painted  or powdered black and they will look superb on the black GT.

Must confess, i done the same to a pair of Araya 7X rims, chucked them in the bag at lunch time at work then got call to do a while-you-wait job ::) and completely forgot. The next time i gave them a thought was laying in bed trying to get to sleep  (that didn't help at all). got to work the next morning and opened the bag to find them 10X worse than your cages :'( looked like the moon's surface. Tried sanding them back but no joy.

I know your pain.

Powder would cover 50% of the pitting without filling, so I would just double coat them n black and they will be  :daumenhoch:

GT Layback and ANY other seat ( not Aeroroyal  >:D ) would look amazing on that lovely bike  8)

I agree, honest, but I just cant afford it yet and to be honest cant get my head around the prices for a bit of plastic. The plan was to build a GT similar to my old ride BITD and that had the Troxel Comet combo. I'd love to find one or perhaps a black Uni???

Can anyone help with an early GT layback and/or seat if only to keep you lot happy??  ::)  ;D
