Title: Question for the Kappa owners...
Post by: lloydieboy on May 14, 2006, 07:02 PM
Hi all,
i got a 3 piece crank (Euro bb) for my Kappa Starsky, prob is that the BB cups that screw into the frame are too long , so you can't screw them all the way into the frame cos there's not enough thread inside the frame.

What bearing cups fit into a Kappa Starsky???

Cheers,

Lloyd.

as it maybe too long

Haven't even got to trying the spacer yet. The threads on the cups are virtually double the thread in the frame.

We were talking about this up the heath the other night, i think they make 2 or 3 different sizes. It's the same with US BB they come in 2 different sizes too i think. Moose is the man to talk to.

I've got a set of Redline Flights in my Kappa Starsky and they fitted fine.  :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

Yeah, deffo Euro BB on Kappa's. I have installed FSA and Odyssey Euro's in them no problem, and I am pretty certain a huge quantity of Kappa's are fitten with Profiles. The spacer tube needs to be fitted inside the BB shell before both sides get installed, so you may find that it will prevent the cups going in all the way thus taking up any slack, even if not all of the thread goes inside. Did it come with any installation instructions detailing the minimum width of the BB shell ?

I can't help you on this one. I can't see why the thread would be longer on the cups?

What crank/bottom bracket did you buy?

The main prob i'm having is getting the cup to go in on the right hand side. Left side seems to go past the  thread but the right hand side just has a huge amount hanging out. I've tried it just right hand side in and it just gets way too tight for comfort still with about a third of it hanging out of the frame.Last thing i wanna do is force it and f*** the thread in the frame.... May have to try a new BB.
