Title: do i restore or not?
Post by: Infection on May 03, 2011, 09:59 PM: Hi dunno if any1 could give me some advice please? i recently dug out my super tuff burner from when i was a lad to sell for some quik cash but after seeing it am abit reluctant to do so, still looks pretty kool to me :)
Anyhoo i will list the parts and post some pics hoping you can help. i dont think i changed a thing.

I think it would be a nice touch to keep as many original parts as possible ;)

I sold one in slightly better condition recently for £120 inclusive of post

If you were to split you could expect to get to get

[all prices quoted are inclusive of post]

£45 frame forks bars
£50 wheels and tyres
£10/15 seat
£10/15 seatclamp
£12/15 stem
£10 headset
£8 BB with cups
£20/25 complete chainring / spider / bolts / guard
£10/15 crank
£8 grips
£30 for the brake set up
£6 skyway blocks - bin the others
£6 pedals

hope this helps fella, splitting is not always the best way as you are always left with some parts kickng around. I sold a mkl burner recently for £160 complete and that was mint, if i'd split i was looking at upward of £200, but it wasnt worth the hassle and all the trips to the post office

Plus if this was ypour childhood bike then if you sell, one day you will look back and regret, so many of us on here have regretted selling our childhood rides

You will definitely regret selling your original bike though, but you can spend waaaayyyyy too much restoring this, however, the guys over on Burnerworld will put you in touch with the people who can supply decals etc. I do happen to know that Mark who owns Impreziv Finished in Darlington (he's on here every now and then as "FHMreader") can re-do the gold over chrome finish if your chrome isn't too shot and he does a lot of the Burnerworld lad's work.

He also does Mongoose ProClass re-finishes which is why I know this..... :coolsmiley:

Don't be suprised if the lads on here have a bit of playful banter with you about it being a Burner, it's a BMX and if it's your original bike then it is definitely worth posting questions about it and asking for help on here as well :daumenhoch:
