MT RACING SILVER FOX 1984

A mate wanted a bmx again and found this down a dump, asked me if i could sort it out for him to ride.
This was in a right state when i got it and we stripped it down in the rain (hence no pic's before hand - fool  ::) I said i will get it ready for him to ride
I started to see that it could be some thing sweet - grease and dirt removed and the chrome was ok under it - polished it to death and got lucky with being able to leave the original decal on there - said he wanted mags and also some grippy pedals (hence not originals, but will replace them now)
To cut a long story short it turn out very sweet and most original parts - i showed him and he loved it - he still had to pay for the parts, but i gave him free labour - two months later and he still hadn't paid - phoned him and he went off like a three year old having a paddy - he told me to go f**k myself and i could have the bike back to pay for the parts - i still don't know why he went off, money - bills - wife ? i just don't know, i guess was he spent too much on other things and had burned himself
Well the bike turn up at my place - he never spoke to me again ?
I had enjoyed building this bike and was sorry to let it go - it came back - true love  :smitten:

it just goes to show that you can build a bike on a budget - just clean and restore the original parts and add a couple of things to bring it up to a sweet ride - it doesn't have to be a grail of a bmx - the cheap one's that we started off on can be just as good as the big stuff and enjoyed just as well  8)

cheers B  ;)

So many honies.....

My teen dream that is Gaz's DB Pro Large  :smitten:

The white elegance of Peeps' DP FB  :buck2:

The simple, clean lines of Carl's '70s build  8)

The memories that Bendycat's MT Fox evokes  :daumenhoch:

But for me, the winner is Snav... because it is RAD's BOTM, not just Snav's. A stunning testament to the beauty of OSBMX and the spirit of the RAD community.  :4_17_5:

in that case voting now..................

I was going to say "lucky you" LOL but seriously (for my taste) there are 2 or 3 contenders. A hard decision as theyre all nice but as far as minty "looking" the bashguard, the bike I never wanted but now do is the silverfox, and I like trickstars.

The DP wins mate-top build

Loads of lovely bikes.

I really didnt want to, but I just kept comiong back to the R7000.  Never had one, holds no nostalgia for me, but I like the simplicity, the race purity and its unfussy.

So thats in with a shout.  The DP is also lovely.  The Gold Burner is nice but is a bit too bling for my liking.  The GT Performer is a good one because its a newie that now has the feel of an oldie.

The ET is only spoiled (in my humble opinion) by the cranks, chain ring and pedals.   For some reason, they dont look right.

Theyre all really good though.  Im going back to the pics to continue my assessment....

ETA: Went with the Cruiser, by a whisker.  Most pleasing on the eye.

Top work fellas.  All cracking looking tools (the bikes).    8)

one is starting to edge it a little......come on guys, make your vote count  :daumenhoch:

Thats probably the one which is being advertised for votes on facebook, has there been a sudden flow of new non posting members on rad that can be tracked as voters?  ::)

That's pretty sad  :-\

My votes in , for a worthy winner , but probably wont win ,,, the actual  best 3 bikes of this month won't be in with a chance , with that desperate need to win stuff going on  :crazy2:

There will probably be 3 separate threads  on how to build a BOTM bike ,, to follow next week  ::)

To be honest all of the votes I have are genuine but if people think it is a false victory I would sooner just play on my kids bikes. BOTM means alot to people and to win a make bad feeling between me and Carl could be awkward because I have a lot of time for the guy. To be honest as I have said to alot of people it would be nice to see a freestyle bike win but not under a cloud. I thought I had built the bike to do that. But hey it is all about the riding for me. I feel for the people that were backing me in this. Thanks for the votes I appreciate them.  You know who you are and thanks for the votes :daumenhoch:  and yes I will be riding her again. At the BR on Saturday see you there Radsters  :daumenhoch:

argh well it's only a bit of fun over kids bikes ............ isn't it  ;)

Some great bikes in there, 3 or 4 really stand out but I went for Carl's 78 Robinson because I personally know what lengths he went to to get such a rare frame and the effort he put into sourcing such a nice collection of parts on it  8)  ..... and we will probably never see another 78 Robbo on RAD again for a long time !!

All cleared up by PM .  :daumenhoch:

Basically Paul I was like you , i couldn't understand how Brett could be shown to be editing the poll , but because Brett started the thread he has access to view the results etc  ;)

I want to make it clear i never for one minute thought Brett was up to no good as he is someone i would trust 100% and after meeting him on numerous occasions i know this is not in his nature  ;)  I have also been told that no one can alter the votes , the only way of doing that is by making new accounts etc  .

Joking aside, I've been out of bmx love recently and thoughts of doing something did pop into my head. Think I'm coming out of the bored stage now and looking forward to getting out on it for Matts 'wetting the babies head' ride!!  :daumenhoch:

But freestyle was for pussy's, most freestylers were not actually any good, they just rode around the streets bunny hopping kerbs, looking gay in their day glow clothes riding gay day glow bikes.   :LolLolLolLol:

Spot on Sean... bunch of soft twonks...  :2funny:

Thats why it died out and BMX RACING is the worldwide wow factor mega sponsor media roadshow that it is today... only the other day Nike built that amazing 'BMX RACE track' in a swimming pool... who would have believed BMX RACING could be SO BIG.

I remember bitd, whenever we saw some freestyling happening at race meetings, we would all watch, clap and tell them how good and talented they were.  But it was just to make them feel better with their little 'tricks', it is kind of like telling a flid how great they are and they are not really a mong, but inside you are laughing your tits off when they fall over  :LolLolLolLol:

I'd just like to add Carl that I think it's a bloody shame that you built a brilliant rare bike with a lot of effort and research and this thread is smeared with so much crap and non related responses.

Damn shame.

But well done mate  :daumenhoch:

Think we all need to stop polishing/canvassing for votes and get out and ride them, just spent the morning rolling round the local spot and scratched my bashguard...only a small mark but felt good just to use it. It will be a survivor build by the end of the summer!  :LolLolLolLol:

if it gets that serious that people fall out then theres something wrong with it all  :-\.
there fookin push bikes at the end of the day. dear push bikes but bikes  ;D
it was stuff like this that made me give up being a mod on here years ago.twice as a matter of fact  :idiot2:.
took all the fun out of the hobby for me.
i just hope it don't turn into the yank sites where if you haven't lined up the wheel nuts all the same way you get ripped  :crazy2:

but anyway congrats to all of ya that took the time to put your bikes in these things.
there all cracking builds.
loved the survivor RSR though and that got my vote  8).

Right  .....    i should post this in chat but it's here aswell  , so lets end this BOTM with a happy ending ....  :daumenhoch: and fooking grow up  :LolLolLolLol:

I posted the bike with this is an original photo of Scott clark on a 78 robinson

Last night Jason Ramsden and Tony Law  ( legends ) came round to have a look at my bikes ....... they had a rip round the street on a Robinson and my GT and once they get the hang of a track again the old school riders are gonna get a shock ...  ^"^  Tony is mental ...

Anyway Jason left and sent me a TXT saying i'm commin round again with something special ..  ::)  ( not a 10k hooker ) but this ...  Given to him by Chuck Robinson  :smitten: in 1982 when he raced for Robinson and was in the USA   an original Scott clark Race Jersy from 1980 (i'd kill for the one in the Photo )   ...    :smitten:     ask Joff ( Norty 40 now a torker owner   ;) ) how much i loved it

I love it so much when a nice painted frame wins, makes a change from copious amounts of chrome.
