Its funny but, my son's cheapo Haro Zippo has a nicer ride feel than my two old-school DP Firebird Freestylers. Im not talking about the quality of the components but rather, the actual geometry of the bike feels better. I really struggle to describe this, but as an example, then you stand over the handlebars and accelerate (pulling on the bars), the Zippo feels ‘right’ and almost a part of you, but the DPs feels like you are applying pressure slightly off centre and just slightly feels ‘wrong’.
Does this make senses? Maybe this has to do with the alignment of the handlebars . I made adjustments but still could not get the DPs to feel as tight as the Haro..
Any thoughts or am I talking bollox?

Paul

Better design/geometry on the newer bike... :daumenhoch:
Longer tt, steeper head angle, shorter rear length
Old school bike to look at/ride to the pub
New school bike for proper riding... >:D

I have an 87 Team Master and an 81 DP GL and my Haro weighs nearly double the DP. The Haro though rides smoother than the DP.
I put skyway EZ bars on the DP and it made it slighty better to steer :daumenhoch:
Nearly finished the DP though so after some photos, will put it to test over the skatepark to see if it handles better overall :coolsmiley:

My bro Simon (Hootski70) swears by his Zippo and rides it off everything at Blackpool so despite the wieght disadvantage the geometry and stiffness make up for it.
He'll post his thoughts on here no doubt in time!

The zippo is a cool ride , but i agree that some bikes just feel right . I ride all my bikes but the mid school bikes seem to have a nicer feel to them , its down to personal preferance . My 1980 Team Goose still makes me smile when i hammer it round a track though . :smitten:

My 96 Hoffman & my 91 Haro bash feel lovely to ride but I now cannot ride my DP.
Think about something mid school mate - style and strength :)

Haro geometry by and large, has always been really nice. Nice enough to be copied by others over the years.
