Title: How to put new school forks in a old style head tube ?

Been looking at getting a 99 performer but useing new type forks 1 1/8, whats the best way to do it please ?

 :) There`s a thread or 2 on here somewhere...usually involves taking the bearings out of the cages and running them loose.
