pedal or bb thread?

AHA!  Didn't think of that  :-[  If it is the BB, then a little patience and some lube will be required but you should be able to clean the thread out using the BB nut failing that you may need to go to a machine shop and see if they have a thread cutter they can run over it for you to clean the thread up  :daumenhoch:.

If its a pedal thread that needs clearing, do as below but be careful as you do as you might find the chrome will crack  :daumenhoch:

Other than that, get this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROEBCUK-1-2-UNF-SECOND-TAP-20-TPI-USED-MINT-/220789441083?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item336813823b

I,m sure that pedals are 20TPI (20 threads per inch)

This will do the job better than risking fooking up ya pedal thread  :daumenhoch:

if you have got or know any one with a buffer , theres a plenty of members on here with em one might be near by,  use some first cut compound to tidy up the thread where the chrome has gone over , should be able to clean up the thread, tape the crank to protect the arm, finnish of with the normal other two compounds to shine up the the thread again
