Hi all
I just got a sexy Redline Twinpinch crank off a Rad member (will arrice next week sometime). I just noticed that ebay seems to have quite a few listed as New?? What is the era of these cranks? I thought they were old school but if so, how come ebay.com has so may 'new' ones?
Whatever the deal is, I still think they are sexy and more importanty, they remind me of my youth so looking forward to getting the little fella..

Cool.. I had to google what single/twin pinch meant :-[ (one or two clamping bolts). So, when did the switch happen? Other than the bolts, they look pretty identical to me..

A set of nice redline 401s single pinch will set you back £250 +++

where as a set of twin pinch cranks have been about for a while and the hardware and decals dictate the age
Generally from £75 for a used set £85 for a show mounted and about £100 for a new set
The set that Lee sold the other day are my set that I had on my Streetbeat that never turned a wheel and other than the marks from moving the bearings are perfect and a good Buy for £85 Posted IMO they are the current model complete with a Redline US bottom bracket.

This is where my appreciation for 'old school' gets confused.. These cranks are almost identical but, depending on how many bolts they have, decides if we pay £80 for £250+..
Maybe I will get more anal about this as I get more into it, but in the meantime I am happy with a £80 redline crank that looks like the crank I loved as a kid.. Its going to look HOT on my Aero Reflex build..

Twin pincher's are better as well they don't come lose :daumenhoch:

asside from the twin bolts , new ones have a more square profile so you can spot em straight away , but for what they cost you can't go wrong ,great for a rider, and a lot easier on the wallet, still one of the better cranks out there, light and strong :daumenhoch: at least you don't have to worry about the half wrap or full wrap dilemma :LolLolLolLol: :uglystupid2:

Cool. Im putting them on one of those new/never assembled Aero Reflex frames. Going to be all chrome, shiny shiny!! And yes, it will be a rider..
What is half/full wrap?

Nothing wrong with twin pinch Redline cranks at all. They are really good cranks and look good on old and new school bmx's.
The only time they are wrong is when they are on bikes that enter show and shine competitions. Then you seem to get people moaning that they didn't get any recognition or get prizes but they are running twin pinch Redlines.
However it is 100% your bike, so do exactly as you want with it.

Incorrect even on a mid build... 2002 onwards for the current twin pinch flights
One of my pet hates is seeing em described as NOS on the parts breakdown of a bike.... they're not old!.... :tickedoff:

you can get a brand new set including whatever bottom bracket set you need from the states for about £75 including postage and he will send as gift AND if you ask him he will knock the value down so it slips through customs :daumenhoch:

btw: what is with all the bottom bracket choices?? Mine is coming with a US bottom bracket. Does this mean it is not going to fit either my Aero Reflex (likely choice) or DP Firebird Freestyler (unlikely choice)??

When your cranks come there will be a Blue anodized tube that may require cutting down for your bearings to sit correctly into the frame, think the bearings and spacer uncut is 68mm measure your bb to see if they will need fettling :daumenhoch:

i got £410 for a set of 401's, was offered £275, thought that was a good price, but im my opinion still very expensive just to look at! P.S. want a haro sport torker built!! :daumenhoch:

american for most old school frames
mid is basically the bearings out of the american bottom bracket cups
euro the bearing cups are threaded
spanish is basically mid with the bearing size reduced to make it a bit lighter

Sorry for the confusion - the one I have coming does have a US bb so, I should be good..

take care when fitting the bb as you have to get the centre tube spacer the right size, too big and your bearing won't fit flush in the frame, too small and your bearings will be too tight and could even collapse inwards

And don't forget if your spacers the correct length then there sould be a 1mm space from the bearing cup to the BB when you've installed the BB. The Profile install instr. are a good guide (BB dependant obv.):
