alloy is too soft to put in vice it just turned .drilled a hole through the alloy and put metal pin in then clamped to the vice which held it in place got more flex out of the frame but post did not move.it is really stuck :'(

take your old stem, and clamp it to the seat post
-do it up real tight
-then, instead of trying to twist, whack it straight down

its worked quite well taken half of the post away, but it was a very thick post, so i need to do it again, but i ran out of caustic. i kept topping it up cos you pour a bit in then it all froths up over the top. you need to keep adding a bit more, and occasionally tipping out the sludge.

remember, gloves and dont breathe in the fumes....do it outside, and dont get it on your skin it burns like feck.

Hi  oberonspacefruit how long did that take you to do ?
should i do the topping up bit or leave it overnight?

i couldnt leave it overnight, cos the stuff literally flies out the top.

there is very little liquid left in the tube, due to spillage, thats why i had to keep topping it up.
