Bought a repop Kashi recently and found out they don't make repop guts.... >:(
Since then I've struggled to find some some Allen Key guts (at a reasonable price anyway!)
So I thought I'd have a go at making a set from a standard set of guts and here is the result!

I'm really pleased with how they turned out, despite the frustration involved with trying to reduce the bar enough to fit under the very narrow Aero!
I'm not sure I'd want to use them for a rider but for my build they will be fine....

looks good, are you getting to lets us know how you made them?
-
I took a standard set of guts which had the usual nut fixings....
I drilled out the outer parts of the clamps to take an M8 Sleeve Nut (which were a right pain to find!) and cut the threaded bar down accordingly....
But like I said, the Aero is very narrow and so I had to remove quite a lot of the thread from each end of the bar (hence me not trusting it on a rider)
I should really have recessed the outer parts so the Sleeve Nut sits flush, but I couldn't make the bar any narrower so I left it sitting proud....

looks awseome - didn't the early guts have nuts and bolts?
-
 Don't tell me that!
-
yep the early ones had nuts ,then the later ones had the allen nut :daumenhoch:
not sure on the change over date , but going by martins , he has pictures of both dated at 1981

Ah that's ok....My build is circa 1985....Phew! :)

impressed well done they look very nice :4_17_5:

Great job that mate 8) :daumenhoch:
Always a shame when the gut nuts force the sides out on a good looking seat out.
