Take a deep breath and go for it.  I always start with spoke one (Key) going next to the valve

Rember do the inbound spokes first or you will be taking them out again :daumenhoch:

"This spoke will then go to the 1st corresponding spoke hole to the right of the valve hole"

I've still got L & R on me boots  :LolLolLolLol:

I've gone right... 'cause sean says so and he'll call me a twonk if I don't do what he said .

Good luck Ed, Make sure the spokes come out of the rim holes the right way, Seen a few rims with angled holes with the spokes wrong.

That was my 'school boy error' Gary  ;D

I did one wrong... but you soon spot it when theres no hole for the spoke in your hand!

...oh.. and I was so happy! inexperience showing through now  ::)

I didn't read Joff NORTY40's advice with full 'understanding' ... he advised going 4x and said that 194 spokes would be good.

I did 3x  ::)

and all the spoke are too long  :)

OBVIOUSLY I understand NOW which is LIFE... and the way I have always done things  ;D

rebuild time  :4_17_5:

So what changes with a 4x build? obviously it crosses 4 spokes but is the rest the same?

Yeah, exactly the same :)

question time yo  :)

are the rims designed for a 3 cross build? the nipples just look loads 'happier' in the holes on 3 cross but don't look like they sit right on 4 cross builds? is that just 'how it is' or am I doing it wrong? will try and do a pick... gotta get the kids ready tho  :)

don't worry about it mate - a few visits to our favourite jump box and all the spokes will be bent up anyway  ;D

If you don't follow simple instructions ED  :D  ::)  ;D

I did say the first one I did took me 3 hours ..... looks like this one might take you 3 days  :LolLolLolLol:

Keep at it mate and you will get there  :daumenhoch:

Ed, if you've not done it by the 30th July, bring them to the Boardroom and I'll do them for you bud :daumenhoch:

Done over a dozen sets now, even swapped hubs over to better rims and swapped them for the correct coloured rims, so I can build them, i just have to take them to my LBS for his magic "£5 per wheel" final tensioning as I can't get that bit right yet.

I always find a decent Rioja helps keep my concentration when doing lacing, but have been known to take a trip to Moscow with vodka if it gets late at night, so keep the drink to hand bud :buck2:

they are going on here... I sold the Ukai Aeros I had to buy some wheels for my Haro. so its back to OGKS but it looks better with spokes... and I always wanted some 7x.

I've swapped the brakes from white to silver and routed the cables... but now the white rims are the only white metal on the bike... and it just looks a bit wrong to me at the mo.

whats a guy to do! still trying to work it out.

Thanx chaps... I still gaze at it with lurve...

Cables are all routed now but not taking any more pics till I'm 100% happy - I can't strip the rims as they we heavily sandblasted when I got them so SBD was the only routed and he saved them.

Its not black chrome ... is BMW Sepang bronze paint with a tinted black lacquer ... its my second go at trying to get something close to the original Ni-Bronze.

Big Dan did me proud... and I even sent him the forks this time
