I sold my streetbeat to fund my first car (which was shit, the car not the skyway...) and I regretted it right up until I finished building up my new streetbeat a while back, but nostalgia got me thinking about some of the riddiculous things we did 'back in the day' and now regret horribly....
I had a patterson, cant remember how I got it but it weighed very little, had a lower top tube but was a full size frame. I swapped it for a skateboard.... god knows what that would be worth now...
A friend also reminded me that I had a cook bros frame and it rode really well as a converted freestyle bike, but I didnt liek the gusset, so we hacksawed it off and later binned the frame.....
any other horrors?

back in the summer of 85 i bought myself a robinson pro.it was really well equipped with all the best bits,no snides, but only thing was it was all blue ano and i wanted black so i swapped out the whole bike, changing dc mx1000's for a dc 890 and a weinmann,my blue kashi aero for a black copy, you get the picture :uglystupid2:
-
BiTD I sold my 1983 Mongoose Cali with alloy Tuffs for fook all to get some cash for a lad's holiday :-[
But worse.......
Not from BiTD, but 6 years ago before I found this site and had got back into riding my BMX a bit, I was collecting bits for a Haro I'd bought on the bay and bought a set of Tuffs off a lad - he asked if I wanted anything else and I took a box of scrap with me he was chucking out, including a set of odd freestyle looking bars painted in green Hammerite......
(you can see where this is heading already can't you.....)
My brother picked up the bars and said "fook me they're light, can I have these?" and took them away no worries........
:crazy2:
Yep, they were a set of DP Ladder bars....... :uglystupid2: :uglystupid2: :uglystupid2: :2funny:

Probably not worth much but regretted leaving our (mine and brothers) bikes in dad's shed...he had a clear out and threw them all away!
That was my blue/ yellow mag burner and my brothers 'own build' Tioga chrome framed bike.
We were both gutted. :)
(I kept my first skateboard though, Schmitt Stix Chris Miller. :coolsmiley:)
-
Flogging a load of old school bmx's I'd accrued from 88-91 (TA to name but a few as you could pick em up for £20) for next to nothing to buy an S&M dirtbike. Then selling the dirtbike and getting a Hoffers. Then selling the Hoffers.....etc etc :( You can see the pattern emerging there........

i managed to aquire a pk ripper from jamie bestwick in the late 80's. when he rode it, it was white. anyway he had cracked one of the drop outs. i bought it off him and got it welded back up. then painted it some ford purple colour. i think it was purole velvet. anyway i managed to slightly bend the top tube learning tailwhips. and ended up giving it away to some lad in bedford as he said he could get it straightened. i always regret giving it away. gutted :uglystupid2: i now have the same type of pk ripper i must try to stop myself from doing frame whips!! i also managed to bend a peregrine super pro doing whips at southsea, king of concrete. luckily mason smith had bought some spare. and i lased it up & trued it on the forks. it was my first wheel. and took a few hours. the things you done back in the day just to ride. :LolLolLolLol:

Qualified for Aussie worlds bitd, local press phoned up to try to get me some funding to get there but I was seeing some bird who didn't know I rode a BMX,so I told the press I'd decided to give up as I didn't want this lass to see me in the paper....2 weeks later Jools Allen was in the paper for the same reason and got some backing and went to Oz,at the time I wasn't too bothered but looking back I really should have gone for it...teens eh!!!

Did you end up marrying this girl Stu ???

Just thought of another one - that I've harped on about in other threads. Leaving my CW Z-500 pit bike with red Skyways with an ex-missus, and coming to pick it up to find she'd sent it to the tip.
Also lending my Freeway Aero to Alan 'Fat Arse' Kemp and watching him snap the seatstays away from the seattube after he'd popped a layback on it......
Anyway, on a more positive note no regrets and more than happy that I'm still riding in me late 30's :daumenhoch:

My biggest regret was feeling embarrased about still riding a bmx at 16, fook me what was i thinking of back in 1982?
Second biggest regret was chucking all my spares in a box and leaving it over a park in walthamstow so the local kids could help theirself :crazy2:

my only regret is not riding more.
-
trying to show off doing a frame stand over the finish line yesterday, after 30 miles of pedaling
my legs turned to jelly as I stood up and I was lucky not to fall on my face and look even more of a tit

Not staying in the pack at the Mansfield National semi-final in 1997.
Went a bit too high to stay out of the pack and get some real power of the berm and got bumped right to the top and had to brake. :idiot2: I had the rest of the track completely dialed that day. I know I would have made my first (and only) National Final if I’d have just stayed in the pack.
Still haunts me today. :'(
