Where's Matt?
-
can you say survivorrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! lot of work, unless you wash it change the tires and ride like you stole it [i'd do it]
-
That's an 85 & I would not say it's great for £500 ::)
-
I think i would leave it "as is",never liked a Master but theres something about a survivor
-
well that went quick
-
well that went quick
Anybody on here??
-
Probably Stella :2funny: :2funny:

Agreed.. 500 was an "okay" price but definitely not a steal.. It would cost you min another £200 to get it to just a nice rider condition, and that would be with leaving most of the components on the bike and spending time trying to get them presentable..
Personally, I would have not hit the BIN button..
Still, its going to be a fun project for someone and, hopefully they are in RAD..!!
Paul
-
I'd pay 500 notes for it, considering the value of the f/f alone nowadays which seem to holding good money with those parts etc.. its worth 500, good enough to wipe over and ride
-
agreed i think it was clever pricing not ridiculously dear but not cheap either as said by the time you restored it it would have cost you a lot but clean it up whack some new grips and tyres on and not a fortune for a fairly well specced survivor
-
i think its worth £500 pounds every day. just look at the parts its got on it. like an original gt mallet stem. shimano pedals. full mx brake set. original tuff 11 alloy hubbed wheels. the thing is everything on this bike is from the correct era. so you dont need to trawl through rad, bmx museum, or ebay looking for all the bits. like you would if you bought a frame and forks. and you know its original. not some taiwan copy crap. ok so the bike needs a lot of work. but that is the challenge. i have read many a thread on here about restoring parts. and i have seen the pics before and thought, bloody take a genius to make that look like new again. then i have seen the restored pics and have been amazed. all the answers to restore this haro back to a show standard are on here. you just have to ask. well im hoping they are. as i bought it!! ;D
-
Probably Stella :2funny: :2funny:
 ................... ;)

nice score stu - are you going to do a full resto, get it up & rolling survivor-style or a bit of both?
either way look forward to seeing the results :daumenhoch:
-
i'd leave that just as it is 8).
loads of restored mint ones.but a proper 80's built bike has gotta be streets ahead of any restored bike in my book :)
-
im gonna pump the tyres up and take it to mk if i have room. ive got lots of things on the go at the moment so it will stay as it is. but it will be restored eventually :daumenhoch:

-
Good call i'd say on the purchase mate nice surviver :daumenhoch: but if yer going to ride her i'd put some fresh tyres and tubes on gotta feeling they're going to turn to dust or explode when you pump em up lookin at pics :LolLolLolLol: :daumenhoch:
-
nice stu, great to have the original receipt etc as well 8)
that will clean up a treat i reckon

Rick if you're going the track near tesco's be warned it's full of pesky kids... :knuppel2:
See you both saturday... :daumenhoch:
Back to the Haro... nice buy imo, but just do what needs to be done to get it rolling
It'll only be original once... :daumenhoch:
-
Nice score ;)
A very light sypathetic resto ,,,more of a clean up ,,if you have to
Two reasons
you will lose it's irreplaceable character/ history
and
you will lose money doing a full on restoration , which is what it will turn into eventually if you start with certain parts ::)
Some good advice on here ,, but it's your bike :daumenhoch:
-
and you know its original. not some taiwan copy crap. ;D
Those framesets were manufactured in Taiwan so a load of dodgy Tai parts would probably suit the bike perfectly. ;D
Seriously, I think it's a nice bit of kit and shouldn't need too much spending on it it to get it looking nice. When Vert-Ego and Skatepool had a load of these framesets for sale every week, you could pick up a built-up example on eBay with a lot of NOS parts fitted for a monkey (sometimes less) so that's why the old guard think it's a bit pricey. Those frames are long gone now so prices have gone up a bit since.
Does the guy have the fork standers? I'd have to have a set on it but they are going for serious coin nowadays aren't they?
-
Fork standers i've seen go for over £100 also, pees me off that people split these for profit, they should be with the original frame/forks :knuppel2: anyway £500 was I feel a good price indeed, I reckon a wipe over, pump up the tyres and ride the fook out of it ;)
-
Nice one Stu, look forward to seeing pictures once you have it. :daumenhoch:
-
I still need to work out how to get pics up on the forum. It's a bit of a black art u know!! :LolLolLolLol:

Just what I was thinking, so where did you think it was made ::)
BTW some of the best bike frames in the world are now made in Taiwan, they have been making most of the bikes in the world for the last 30 years :)
I guess I feel it's expensive because I remember buying complete factory spec Nos 85 Masters for £450
-
Nice score Mate, clean it,ride it and admire it.
