Yes i know they're probably rubbish but they're sealed bearings and as smooth as butter, they do weigh a bit but i really like em :daumenhoch:

Mid school heft :daumenhoch: I've got a Fishbone freecoaster round here somewhere, same shape, weighs a ton & has sealed bearings & internals just like the Odyssey & Haro freecoasters did.

Came out 97 and still sold till around 99 I think. They can take 12g spokes same as Phat Jacks as well, decent hubs - going to slap mine on my Catweazle I reckon :daumenhoch:
-
great products Fishbone stuff, much underated , get some fat chrome rims, chrome 12g spokes , bombproof classic 90's wheelset :daumenhoch:, always had a different take on design with their parts, got a seat post thats a bit different to :daumenhoch:
-
nice :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:
had a set of these in 2005 but decided not to use em due to the weight!

Good luck with finding them 12g's - you can get em in the states but last time I checked the postage alone was $70 for 100  I've got two sets of Phat's waiting for them thar spokes - had a ring round a load of places in the UK, even car resto places and could find 12g's but not the right length.
Nice score on them hubs btw.

phat boys respect 8)

i can get 12g spokes and nipples in the uk, custom made but at a price of £64 for 40
the other option is to get some 12g spokes and nipples for a motorbike wheel, then have them cut to size and the thread re-cut into the spoke
annoying thing is i need 1 spoke and around 10 nipples :'( :'(
-
You could get some 13g's and pop em in random spokes on the wheels - shouldn't be that noticable :)
I've got one complete Phat Jack pair on chrome HP-48's on my General I bought bitd from Hot Wheels, OG price was around £200 for the pair (with discount £120 ;) ) - lovely wheels :daumenhoch:
-
I have em on my Holmes, laced to big city chrome rims (Bling Bling) love em and they are foooookin Bombproof! They will take whatever you throw at em Rob and all the kids at the park always want to know how much my wheels were ;D
-
awesome guys! i wll look out for some nice rims for em now :daumenhoch:
-
I have always liked those Fishbone hubs. Good deal Rob
-
Hi guys, forgive me for my ignorence but what are 12g spokes?? Are they just a thicker gauge? I take it you can run normal spokes as i had a set of hp's built up with phat jacks and didnt ask for any sort of special spokes? and just sent of my big citys and blowfish hubs to be built up and again not specked 12g. There was me thinking i was being original and every man and his dog is doing the same set up ;D
-
Yeah, 12g is a thicker gauge :) Bitd ya could buy a pre built Phat Jack wheelset with HP-48's with 12g's - you can lace em with 14s if your spokes had small crowns on em at that gauge tho they could pull through the spoke holes on the hubs or just need tightening every now and again :)
-
Wicked hubs Rob :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
I love those wheels on Diggler's bike looked ace when on the black Dirtbike :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

as already said phatt jacks should really use 12g spokes, only problem is 12g spokes are hard to come by these days
but i have been doing some detective work and can get 72 184mm 12g spokes and nipples from taiwan for $57 (£35) delivered
im also working on getting some from the uk which hopefully will make things easier and cheaper

If you want to go in on a bulk order (I need enough for 3 wheels) I'm in :)
Just a fyi for peeps with Phat Jacks or Blowfishes or any other late mid-school hub - you can tell if they need a lower gauge by popping a 14g through a spoke hole - you'll see straight off they're designed for smaller gauge spokes. If you're going to tear up street or parks (or owt that puts a lot of side stress on yer wheel) use the spoke gauge the hubs was designed for otherwise you run the risk of wheel collapse :daumenhoch:
And just on another insanely dull side-note, has anyone else noticed the holes on HP-48 rims for the spoke nipples got slightly larger from factory after the Phat Jacks came out? I've compared a few sets now, and the one's pre Jacks have slightly smaller nipple holes. Boring but true :)
-
waiting to hear back from a uk supplier as i actually only need 1 spoke and around 10 nipples
but if all else fails ill go down the taiwan route :daumenhoch:
