When I 1st started racing I rode a Yamaha BYZ401 (I think there were 3 models 301, 401, 501).
Here is a picture of me riding my Yamaha at the last berm at Solent Spitfires (Southampton) track in 1982.

I am more worried about the enormous crash helmet I am wearing, that thing is gigantic. The gloves are pretty huge also. I was just the king of style eh? Nice natty boat shoes also.
I remember that bike so well. It had yellow z-rims, red hubs, red cranks, Curtis handlebars, I think the tyres were red also.

Here you go, sorry about the picture of it complete - that was taken by the guy I bought it from (I forgot to take one myself).
I bought it because it was this bike that led me to have my first BMX stove enamelled white and buy some red/white checkered pads. I was going to restore it to it's former glory, but I had to sell it as I was running out of space ::)
