Title: WHAT WHEELS TO PUT ON MY 85 MASTER ????
Post by: HARORIDER on August 13, 2011, 11:15 AM
going to build the nos master i was lucky enough to get off jai at mk11 but i want to ride it,now being normally a tuff wheel chap normally the braking isn't quite as good so thinking about spoked alloy rimmed wheels-now the question is what type and what would be good to withstand the abuse  :-\

I have 7xs on my Master but I did have super 7xs initially but peregrines are probably the correct wheels to have :daumenhoch:

I'm almost certain peregrines are too young for an 85 master as well as Super 7x... I'd go Ukai or 7x

You really didnt get a decent freestyle rim until about late 86 onwards

Think that correct it was either burner wheels  "araya etc" or tuffs

Christ i remember running CMC rims on my Skyway pre 85 they were fooooking awsome looking wheels they had chrome spokes and nipples  .....the whole bike was chrome ....that was my mission to have as much of the bike chrome as possible....them wheels used to really light up in the sun and they really turned heads every kid in my home town wanted that bike they were making me silly offers back then 8)

Were very heavy though and im not sure they were very bmxy "the cmc's"  ;D

thought the stock ones came with tuffs ? mate had araya aero's on his master would have been around  85, had the first L shape haro amongst us,    sugino sealed on front suntour coaster on rear with stainless spokes  :daumenhoch:  you've just got to tighten the spokes right up,  get em pinging, pretty strong wheel set once you do

1985 complete masters came with tuffs, the sport came with z's and the fst alloy ukai's
best rims performance wise for using are chrome paul
7x in chrome with sealed bearing hubs would be a good choice mate
