the type that come on an e.t?
-
If they are nylon, they should - will be a struggle if they're rubber...

If they are nylon, they should - will be a struggle if they're rubber...
thats it, i'm not sure what they're made of :-\ i've got the rit anyway and the grips are on the way - i'll post up for those interested :)
-
Not worked with RIT yet and so don't know how it behaves with cetain items
i will go out on a lim and say they are rubber and won't dye that well - maybe unless it's black maybe ? but only try if you don't mind the end result being a mess
items that dye well have pores that let the dye in - rubber doesn't do this and tends to only catch the outside in places or just weak if at all
only try if can afford to lose them ;)
cheers B ;)

if you mean oakleys like elliot had, YES :daumenhoch:
-
and how long have you been sitting on this info mate ::) ;D
-
its not looking good, they've been in for half an hour and they've gone from red to a dirty red colour, i've whacked the heat up anyway ;D
-
nearly two hours now, they've got darker but you can still clearly see that they were red - they've gone a kind of dark reddy/brown colour..... i've only ever dyed a seat before and that went from yellow to a nice, dark black in 2 hours - do you think the grips would benefit from longer or am i flogging a dead horse??
-
i know it looks like i'm talking to myself on this thread but just keeping it updated ;D they've been in for three hours - half hour off the heat but the rest of the time with the heat on - they're now black! i'm turning the heat off now but i'm going to keep them in the hot water for a bit longer while i go out etc, seems to make sense rather than taking them out and throwing the already very hot dye solution away......
i'll post some pics later on after i've taken them out, rinsed them and dried them.....
-
Seems like you are having some success :daumenhoch:
Glad it is working out for you now get some before and after piccies up :4_17_5:

here we go then -
the kit -

giving them a bath in boiling water to "open the pores up." -

the bath -

they are black but look "salt stained." they look mint after a wipe with a baby wipe but the wipe goes a bit purple so i'm going to wait a couple of hours until they totally dry and maybe give them a wipe over with tyre shine.............? unless theres any other suggestions......?

a couple of hours outside and 20 minutes in the tumble dryer -

Top job...
just wondering, did you buy these from Ebay, seller from Malaysia? I have relatives there & they bought me a set & brought them back when they came home, cost £20. I tried fitting them yesterday & they dont fit the bars, they are to big! :wtf:
Have you tried them on win V bars yet? Its not like they even fit losely, they dont even touch the bars! I've never had grips that are a different size :'(
Hope yours are ok :)
-
I got mine from bodamus on here and they fit perfectly. I know that some were for bmx's but some were made for motocross bikes and were bigger - I thought only one would be too big though (throttle side....?)
-
Fair enough. :)
I'm going to have to bodge mine to fit but as the bike is hanging on the wall its not really a big issue. Just glad I didnt pay full price, postage & waited 5 weeks!
