Title: Which old school brakes?
Post by: Beelzebug on August 15, 2011, 01:39 PM: Hello folks, Collecting parts for my first build (reflex f&f...yeah, I know, but we all got to start somewhere right?) but unsure of which brakes to go for... :-\

I like the oddy 2000's but so far have discovered that just about every set currently for sale only have left hand levers! ???

Can anyone recommend a decent set (calipers and levers) for around the £50 mark?...dont really want to go down the mx repop route.

personally i think Nippons are one of the best old brakes but they are not cheap for an old set.

901's any good for a rider?...need something that can be easily converted for front potts mod too :P

Thanks for the offer discostu, but I'm really after silver calipers (nos or really decent condition). :)

Unless somebody out there has an oddy 2000 right hand lever ;)

If you are going to rip the quick release's out for potts mod and change the dia compe adjusters to 880 adjusters, then the MX re-issues are not bad to be honest :daumenhoch:

The only distinguishing marks are the adjusters and the pants quick release :crazy2:

I've got a silver (polished) Tech 4 at home, don't know if it's left or right but you're more than welcome to it if you can find a matching one :daumenhoch:

My ocd wouldnt let me fit a back to front lever ;D
