just been offered a shed find standard shorty with redline 400 cranks it is very rusty
and what is value of cranks and are they any good as they have sugino on them
as would like them for a prolite craig campbell if I ever find one .
can someone tell me how to put pics up as it is quite rusty sure you all would like to see.
-
If they have sugino stamped on them, then they are sugino 400's not Redline.
There's no physical difference, only that the Redlines stamped ones are slightly more desireble. Sugino made both, Redline sold their ones as Redline 400s. Sigino sold they ones slighly cheaper as Sugino 400s.
Photo's require a free photobucket account :daumenhoch:

Or imageshack mate, I use imageshack, but they're both good :daumenhoch:

cheers mate shows rust up well just sent second pic of crank .

As for value, if your thinking of buying to restore & sell, in restored state the cranks would be worth between £200 - £300, as for the whole bike, in that state it must be worth a few 100, some good parts on there, not sure about the wheels, they look like steel the way they have rusted.
I'm also not sure of the price of the F&F, ask in the mid skool section, but it must be worth at least £150 :daumenhoch:
-
Use wd-40 and foil on the rust, as long as it's not pitted or too deep, it will get all the rust off. :daumenhoch:
-
I'd have those cranks off you in that condition fella and do the work myself to get them tidy - not interested in re-chroming as I like "rider" condition stuff on my riders, just get the rust off them :daumenhoch:
Good find - pm me if you want to sell them or swap them for something :daumenhoch:
-
sorry for lack of reply chap wanted £200 for bike and it is rusty as
-
PM on the way mate :daumenhoch:
-
I'd give 250 for it as it stands...
Quick fifty for you if you can't be arsed....
-
fook the cranks,
thats a standard shorty. :smitten:
unless its one of the "cyclesport specials" but they look to be early "1 bashforks too.....
-
at a guess, i'd say the stem could be a hoffman, maybe DK,
u brake looks like a shimano maybe, tyre looks to be khe lamello so the rear wheel might be ok,
front wheel looks to be off a cheapo 80's bike, is that an acs boa on the front?
any pics of the rear dropouts?
-
stem is dk bars hoffman jump bars headset tange and rear wheel perigine 48 rear brake dia compe as are levers and boa on front I originally was interested for cranks only are these cranks any good and what era are they from I remember early redline cranks having titanium axles is this true ? and what would chroming cost be on cranks? thanks
-
No I don't think Redline Cranks had Titanium spindle, you can get them for Profile Cranks 8) If he wants £200 for it, then it is well worth it, you could restore it & you will have a really nice bike there :daumenhoch:

nice find well worth £200
cranks will cost around £30 to have stripped & re-chromed
