Can anyone out there shed any light of on a random memory flashback?... :P
Now it just might be my ageing sleep deprived fuddled brain playing tricks on me but I'm sure that BITD (84 ish?) that one of the local lads had a mongoose with what appeared to be some kind of front hub type brake setup on it... :-\
Am I just imagining it or did such a thing really exist...anyone?
-
Sounds like a disk brake?
-
:) Sounds a bit Sturmey-Archer to me :daumenhoch: Prob a drum brake.
-
Yeah, drum brake definately :daumenhoch:...some sort of cast alloy effort IIRC...
Cant for the life of me remember which species of mongoose it was, pretty sure it was chrome frame with blue bits though :P
Searched the net but failed to find anything at all...
-
proberbly had a honda c90 front wheel on it :LolLolLolLol:

Some geezer on bmx beat used to ride with a front drum brake, cant remember who tho ???
-
The pic on the sturmey-archer site looks quite similar to what I remember ;)
Dont think it would have been a mod to the bike though because I'm also pretty sure that the lads younger brother had an identical mongoose with a drum brake too.
Anyone know if these were fitted as standard by mongoose on certain models?
btw, ta for the links :daumenhoch:
