Title: Polishing a Frameset !!!
Post by: tobytyke on August 21, 2011, 10:52 PM
Ok, I'm waiting for the arrival of a frameset which will require some work

I want to have a go at polishing / cleaning it up myself

Want to try & keep it survivor looking, though if it's beyond saving then it will be Powdered

Now a few people have mentioned Mothers !!

Which specific product would it be or are there other alternatives out there

I have no polishing equipment so it is gonna have to be done by hand, anything I need... Cloths etc etc

But I am keen to give it ago & see what happens

Opinions & restoration advice very welcome

Do NOT use Autosol. If there are areas where the chrome is thin.....and there will be cos thats the same with all chromed bmx frames......you will basically make the chrome thinner and the nickel will start showing through......

I know cos ive done it on 2 frames around the BB area where the tubes meet, unfortunately it wasnt until the second one i realised what was happening!  ;D
