needed a gyro kit for my bike i ordered a snafu mofeus detangler thing from the states (£18 shipped) as no one had one in the uk....but i still needed cables and gyro tabs as i have newish bike with hidden headset and them little holes on the head tube
anyways i was going to go the usual odyssey route and buy tabs seperately but seen the vocal kit (£15) with tabs included....so bought that.....gets it in yesterday and i have to say it looks much better than the odyssey ok gyro etc look the same but cable and there adjusters are much better quality ....... only thing i would say is it fits my 21" tt frame just right but if my rear brake was mounted on the lower chainstay section i would need an extra peice of outer cable.....thats me only gripe with it.
-
Nice, i may look in to it, i'm running a straight cable to the rear at the moment, but i'd like to go gyro in the near future
Hows the mobeus?, i was going to go with the odyssey gtr

I've been running one of those snafu gyro thingies and they're superb!

:LolLolLolLol: peter, I run a gyro lower but I've got a diatech tech 77 lever with a mod that allows me to run two separate cables for the upper bit.

Any piccies
I want to get one of these "witch craft" gyro thingy's.................and I've seen some with two cables coming out of the lever and just wondered whats the advantage or is it just a "fashion" thing.......and as I'm soooooooooooooo down with the kids I didnt want to look even more or a twunt :crazy2:
-
I think Odyssey do a lever as well that takes the dragonfly double top cable, I've not seen another one of the one I've got..........I'm sure I've got a pic somewhere.

Is there a mechanical or liner pull advantage to running two cables as appose to the 1 into 2 oddy cables ?
-
its a little smother and allows the springs to return a little easier so you could run less tension, easier to set up and maintain,
no real linear pull advantage though,
-
The problem with the traditional Oddy cables is if they're adjusted wrong they can top out inside the 2 into 1 tube and all the pulling in the world on the lever goes no further than there, and then the cable snaps.
Not really a problem though if everything's set up properly and the cables are nicely lubed.
I run one of those Oddy Modulevers these days and the cables that run with them are designed a little differently and are a bit sturdier I think. Same deal though, it's all in the setup.
-
Talking about set up guys is there a best way to angle the back brake pads toeing in or out or just flat as mines squeal like two pigs at the moo..............i suppose they could be them squealing pads i havent looked yet :)
-
pads should always be toe'd inwards from the front of the pad :daumenhoch:
if they are the clear sticky pads then they'll squeel like shyte whatever you do ;D
-
Cheers Rob.................they are mate ::)
-
what rims are you using? chrome or annoed?

not with mine Pete but i'm sure that would work with the oddy M2 lever :daumenhoch:
although i think they're also designed to be used with a normal lever (although someone else might want to confirm that instead of me) ;D
-
I don't think the Snafu cable will work with an Odyssey M2, as it's designed for use on the "normal" single cable levers.

Yeah, just looked in to it, you could do m2 cables to a snafu gyro, but not snafu cables to an m2 lever.
-
I've used the modulever for years and its the best, I was using an odyssey m2 lever after good old stodge got us cables that fit, I've just put on the snafu dual cable as now you can get longer cables for them, I've also got a tektro fx1 lever that takes normal cables and has daul barrells.
The problem with normal gyro cables is theyre made cheaply, the lump in the splitter sometimes rubs against the side of the splitter causing friction and the cables feel mushy alot of the time. dual cables top and bottom is the only way to go for me.
-
i have the snafu gyro and a gtx gyro, i'd say the snafu one is a good bit smoother and i've been using it for about 5 years with no problems. duel cables are better too top and bottom and the snafu ones work great, altho recently i snapped my top snafu cable(couple of years old) and i got a new oddy cable which is a lot better than their old ones. seems to be a lot smoother than what i remember them and on par with a duel cable.
-
Pickle sent me some pics of his lever mod, it's really nice but sold out so I thought I'd make one.
Self explanatory really, a modified london mod, odyssey knarps and a bit of rod from b&q cut, drilled and 2 flats ground on it.
Works a treat and does away with the need for special cables.
