Title: Bike weight, is it really important?!
Post by: mattuknc on September 11, 2011, 10:17 AM
My Haro RS2 is up for sale and someone asked for it's weight?!
Never really bothered about that sort of thing but as they asked I thought I'd weigh the lot!

Subrosa Pandorra dtt '09 = 24.4 Lbs
Haro RS2 Group 1 = 25.2 Lbs
Skyway Streetstyler = 28 Lbs
Mongoose Cali = 28.9 Lbs
Hoffman D130 = 31.2 Lbs

Quite interesting really,  :-\ well maybe not, the Haro is still pretty light but does feel fragile compared to the Subrosa.  :daumenhoch:

I suppose it depends on how fat you are , no point saving weight on a bike if you weigh 20 stone   :D

IMO opinion other things matter more - cranks and F&F that don't flex too much, having good chain line, correct size properly inflated tyres etc etc

I find that wheel weight is important to the feel of the bike, rather than overall weight.

I like a lighter bike for given it some beans - if it's just for cruzing and show then weight is not a prob - but that's just me

Like diggler says it depends on what yer doin :daumenhoch:

for a race bike, anything which rotates is where weight is important, particularly wheels and tyres, then drivetrain.

it's ok saving weight as long as you don't sacrifice durabilty and strength  :daumenhoch:
